This may not be your stomach but noises made by your colon. I used to think it was my stomach too but in reality I learned it's sometimes a noisy gut (GI tract). When my colon is noisy and very active I sometimes have the good bacteria levels off. Eating a yogurt cup or two a day is an easy fix. Stonyfield yogurt is high in acidopholis. If you can't tolerate dairy as I can't, you can take a probiotic (I'm currently taking one capsule after dinner each evening of Nature's Way, you find it in the health food section near yogurt).

As far as that bloated feeling, avoid carbonated beverages, drinking with a straw, chewing gum, chew your food very well at each meal, sip a small amount of water at meals and in general, smaller meals spaced through out your day is better than 3 large meals per day. I prefer 4 to 6 very small meals a day. Walking helps gets rid of the bloated feeling too.

(5 hour colon resection: 90% sigmoid removed, 15 inches of colon removed, gall bladder removed, temporary colostomy, reversed 8 weeks later)
- Chronic IBS/D symptoms, multiple bm's, on low residue diet
- Takes Colace 50 mg each evening

One more thing to add - to the general public/population, the impression is this is your stomach growling. Because you are hungry. LOL

I still find this self diagnosis comical to note.

I imagine it's more polite to say in public settings - oh sorry, must be hungry.

But in reality these noises are from your digestive tract. Which comes after your stomach - LOL. Comical? Yes! Again, it's more polite to say you're hungry in public than to suddenly run to a bathroom in case D is coming.

I have a few more approaches to this problem besides what I posted above - sipping hot tea (which induces bm's so I only do this at home), massaging the path your large intestine takes on your abdomen, start on your lower right, work up with your hand, gently pushing down as you do, when you near the naval , go horizontally across and press down on the other side. This helps move gas along (a nurse taught me this exercise once). Imagine an upside down U turn. Also, a heating pad on the abdomen area works well too.
