I was just cruzing this forum looking for people with chronic stomach pain and what they do for it and saw your post. It's discouraging to see no one responded, does this mean pain is not a common symptom of IBS? Anyway, I have the trifecta, ulcerative colitis, IBS and severe GERD (and chronic fatigue, but that's another story). I have stomach pain, moderate to severe about 95% of the time after I eat something-no matter what the content is. It feels like a sharp, stabbing (knife like, I say that, but I have no idea what it's like to be stabbed, it just gets people to understand how desperate I am) pain, pretty centrally located right under my bellybutton. I tried Bently once, but made me dizzy. On meds for UC/GERD, going to see GI next week to go over IBS RX options, not sure what to do, really don't want to take more meds. Also when I eat I feel bloated, sluggish and lots of fatigue, sometime I can't eat at work b/c can't get through the day.

Most of my pain is in the lower left. It's a dull ache that comes and goes. Sometimes it travels to the lower right or navel area but it's usually in the left. I occasionally get lower cramps about an hour after I eat, which is relieved by a BM.

I get very severe pain with my IBS and it can feel like a lot of things, dull ache to a severe charlie horse feeling and a host of other feelings.

Gut directed hypnotherapy helped me tremedously on pain, bloating and actual defication, which I was c/d, mainly on the d side of things. I use to get about four attacks a week and after the hypnotherapy I got three in a years. That was five years ago I finniished the Hypnotherapy. Since then last summer I got heat exhaustion and had a flare up again and its taken me about 6 months to get it back under control, but I also had a severe case of shingles for a couple months. That was no fun for sure and I got an infection. But even the pain from the shingles was not as bad as the IBS pain, which is off the charts sometimes.
