I have been taking calcium citrate w/D.  Some information I found suggests because I have IBS and UC that I should take calcium carbonate.  Any experience here?  Thanks.

The carbonate is the one for guts.
23 years of UC which started after quitting smoking. In and out of flares which are usually triggered by antibiotics. Latest issue is endless diarrhea without blood or mucous.

Currently off all meds. Using grapefruit seed extract, a good probiotic, iron supplement, calcium, L-glutamine and psyllium seed powder with some good effect.

If this helps, I've been using Caltrate 600 + D. One tablet three times a day, before, during or just after a meal. Start out with a 1/2 tablet each meal the first day, then work up to a full tablet 3 times a day. Walgreens has the same pill carried under their brand. Don't take calcium + magnesium if you lean towards diarreha. LuckyGirl49

I use Caltrate too - for D and to slow bone loss, the last problem I 'd have expected as an active 52 year old guy. I attribute it to prednisone treatments over the years.

Hey here's a related question.

Is chewable better for absorption and benefit, than pill form?
- Rectal Cancer 4/29/99, Stage I, no treatment necessary
(5 hour colon resection: 90% sigmoid removed, 15 inches of colon removed, gall bladder removed, temporary colostomy, reversed 8 weeks later)
- Chronic IBS/D symptoms, multiple bm's, on low residue diet
- Takes Colace 50 mg each evening
