This is free and has an excellent article on diagnosing IBS, kids and IBS and pain and other valuable info.

Hi Shawn12,
I was wondering if you are located in North Carolina ? (being that the article was from UNC).
If you are, are there any good GI docs in NC that you could reccommend ? I have had IBS since I was a kid, but over the years it has gotten worse and my Dr. has even mentioned that I might have IBD as well, and I am looking for a good GI doc.
Thanks,
Stacey

Hi Stacey, I am friends with Doctors at the UNC. Some of the top IBS doctors in the world there.

If you don't live close to there, you should email them and ask if there is one nearby you they would recommend. Another you can email and ask is the IFFGD.

Hope that helps and let me know how it goes. I highly recommend the UNC though.

Hi Shawn12,

Thanks for the info. I live about 3 hours away from Chapel Hill, so that isn't too far for me to travel, and it is probably the closest IBS clinic in my area. I will definately email them and find out what I have to do to get referred there. It is nice to know that some of the top IBS docs and researchers are in my state. Thanks again !!

Hi Stacey, yes they are top doctors and researchers. They train gi doc's as well in functional disorders like IBS.

Three hours is far really, but maybe they can check you out and then refer you back to your regular doctor or a local GI to manage and monitor you.

Let me know how things go.
