I have predominantly IBS-C. Some days I can actually "go" - and very well - and the next day NOTHING happens. I don't even have the urge to go even though I feel so constipated and miserable I can hardly stand it.  Does anyone else have this? I've been tested for everything up the wazoo but the drs. couldn't find anything wrong. Obviously there is...

You really need to read up on pickled foods and what they do for your intestinal tract. Sauerkraut or pickles from a health food store that contain live cultures can be found in the refrigerated section and will say that they have live probiotics.

I have a very advanced yeast infection ( candida ) . Too many carbs or sugar and I always have diarrhea. After being on kraut and pickles for about 3 months my bowel movements are normal 90 to 95 % on the time. I just eat a little kraut usually before a meal. Most of my candida symptoms are gone or should I say in better control now. I believe I still have quite a way to go but I can have more of a normal diet now. Any questions you can email me directly if you want.

Have you had your TSH levels for thyroid function checked?  The American Assoc of Clinical Endocrinologists now say that 2.5 should be the top of the range, so TSH should be no more than that.  Some doctors are using old scales which go up to 5.  My TSH came back at 3.1 but only after starting low dose thyroxine did my bowel start functioning normally again.  Before that I was just like you.  My bowel was totally full, but I could hardly 'go' and had to strain like crazy when I did.
