ive had stomach pains/cramps for about half a year now, and im only 14 so i thought it was something to do with my age. but i have had blood tests and my doctor reckons i have ibs because all the tests came back okay.
i dont have the toilet problems, i just need to go in the morning or i will be really ill all day, but the stomach aches are starting to ruin my life, i barely ever go out because when i do im in agony.
i was thinking the other day does activia help them? because im willing to try anything within reason, is there anything which helps get rid of my stomach aches?
please reply :-)

If you've only had blood tests, you may need another opinion. There are more tests that can be done to make sure you don't have a more serious problem.

Activia may be worth a try if you don't have problems with dairy. It is not expensive and you should know within a few weeks if it is helping.

Hi Heaarrtt,
Forget the activa if you want something that actually works get your parents to go to the Health food store and ask for the Renew Life- Ultimate Flora Critical care Probiotic.  It has 50billion live cultures alot more in one capsule than eating many containers of Activa.
If you have problems going in the morning or even if you don't you should take metamucil powder mixed with water daily before going to bed.  The fibre helps with the Bowel movements and should be taken daily, it might help to make things more regular for you and help with the cramping.  Just make sure you drink enough water with it.

My grandmother has IBS, and she said Activia was terrible for her. She said it gave her violent D.

I feel compelled to completely agree with puffed rice!

Renew Life - Ultimate Flora Critical Care probiotic is the best product. Hands down! Buy the one with 50 Billion. My store charged roughly $37 for a bottle of 30 capsules.

You must keep these in your refrigerator. And take them on an empty stomach. My schedule is after dinner, I eat one organic yogurt cup (Brown Cow is the brand I prefer, just 2 doors down from the above product at my health food store), then approx. 2 hours later when my stomach is empty, I take the pill. I allow it to pass thru my system until it gets to the lower colon. This is when the encoated outer shell dissolves and the good bacteria is placed where you need it most.

I've been on it for 2 weeks and have noticed a huge improvement in my regularity, etc. I've had severe IBS issues for 11 years now.....

- Chronic IBS/D symptoms, multiple bm's, on low residue diet
- Colace 50 mg + Ultimate Flora Critical Care 50 Billion daily

If these suggestions don't work, keep going to the doc until they figure out what the problem is. I know you don't want a lot of invasive tests but you shouldn't be having these problems. Did they do a test to check your stool for blood ova and parasites? They should have, that's a basic to make sure you didn't get a case of food poisoning or c-diff from antibiotics. Good luck to you.
