i had hemmroid surgery this last tuesday, and have been taking milk of magnesia to keep my stool soft, or watery. It hurts so bad, and burns when i try to go to the bathroom. I cry, it hurts that bad. It is now sunday and still am in pain. Have been in the shower 4 times today, hot water seems to lesson the pain, taking some hydrocortozone rectal inserts which hurt i can't put it up all the way, wondering if i will break a stich or something also, have to just hold it in till it dissolves 2 times daily, taking pain pills also, but i just want to know how long this is going to be before having a bowel movement won't be painful anymore. I am suppose to go back to work tomorrow, ya right. I can't leave the house, never know when i have to go, it just comes on just like that. This morning i was letting my dogs out and deficated all over myself, have no control to stop it or anything. Any advise anyone, i surely would appreciate it.

I promise it does get better. I had hemorrhoid and fissure surgery several years back and it was excruciatingly painful. I cried ALOT...Be sure to take your pain meds on time, drink plenty of water, sit in a tub of warm bath water. Don't let your stools get hard.

While I haven't had hemorroid surgery I had a lot done to me in the rectal area. There are so many nerve endings in this spot, it is quite painful to recover from surgery in this area of the body. What works the most is time, because with time comes healing. But in the meantime, soaks in a sitz bath might feel the best. Taking a hot bath is soothing but when you sit in a sitz bath (plastic insert you put inside your toilet bowl), you open up the rectal area by just sitting in that position. They're not expensive, you buy them at your local pharmacy.

I wouldn't return to work for a few days at least. The stress of not trying to get thru a work day while feeling this way will make you feel better too, in the long run.

I hope you find relief soon.

I had hemorrhoid surgery done 9 days ago and it still is a real pain in the ^*(. It really is brutal, I had to catherize myself because I couldn't void so that it hurts from both ends. I can't see the area but I feel all these little knots, but like swollen hemorroids feel like. Is this normal and what is it? Can anyone answer this question? Will have to call tomorrow. I'm a 61 yr. old male and this is the worse pain I have ever had.
