Hello to those who'll come across my message,
I am a 38yo man, living in NY. I am seeking feedback from people who may have been through my situation. I am aware that whatever replies that I may get are going to be personal experiences from people and their conditions.
In the middle of July of 2009, I started getting rectal pain that would get worse when I would stay sit for a long time. I just didn't know what to think of it at the beginning, but since the pain didn't go away for a few months, I started to get worried and to think of the worst. I finally got to see my colon and rectal doctor in August, who told me I had internal hemorrhoids(I.H.)and gave me a list of things to do to alleviate my condition. I used suppositories and took a lot of Citrucel, and my condition improved in a matter of a couple of weeks, but then I started to get pain again, especially after going to the bathroom. I went back to the doctor at the end of september and after examining me, he said a I had an anal fissure, he prescribed me some ointments that made me feel better in around 2 weeks.
I was O.K. for around 2 months, and then again I got another I.H. in around January 2010, the doctor just told me to change my diet and I sort of did. I went back for a follow up 2 weeks later and the doctor said I was getting smaller. I didn't pay much attention to my rectal pain after that and I decided to start going to the gym in february.
Going to the gym, taking proteins and creatine gave me a lot of strengh and helped loose around 20 pounds in 2 months. At the same time my rectal pain became more frequent. I was doing machines mostly and some running on the treadmill.
I went back to my doctor and he found another I.H. which he decided to ligate. Ligation doesn't seem to have helped. It has been more than 3 weeks since that procedure and my rectal pain has become more permanent. I am constipated, no matter what I do, I take citrucel everyday, I take 2 colace pills daily, I'm eating lots of vegetables and drinking water and nothing seems to help. My stool is very solid and dark, I am now thinking of the worse, most of the people say that when the stool is black or dark it is because there is blood in the internal area.
I do have an appointment this thursday and I want to get some feedback from people who may have similar conditions. You see, doctors never have enough time to listen to everything you want to ask them and many of them have lost their humane spirit and sees you as just another car they have to keep running, for now.
I want some advice on what key questions I should ask the doctor or concerns I should share with him. I want to thank everyone in advance for your reply.
