I had an umbilical cord hernia repair done 2 weeks ago but still i can't sleep in bed been sleeping on recliner chair but then i get leg cramps does anyone know how long it will be before i can sleep in my own bed and get some good sleep. i am going out of my mind pains don't work anymore hurts to my move my bowels anyone have any suggestions need help.

Hopefully someone can help, I have never had a hernia so don't know all that much about them.

Have you talked to your doctor about it all.

Are you sleeping in the recliner so you don't have to lay flat? If that's the reason, it may take a few more weeks. The worst of your pain should be over but you may have some tenderness for a while.

Make sure that you are standing up straight whenever you are walking or standing. Ask others to remind you to stand up straight, we tend to hunch after abdominal surgery. Try to lay on your back for a few minutes at a time several times each day. Don't do it if you feel pulling or pain beyond tenderness. Take it easy so you heal properly.
