I posted this on the Crohn's site but maybe I will get responses from the IBS Site.  I have Crohn's and IBS and a lovely irreversable colostomy.   According to my last colonoscopy (6-08) my cd has been in remission.  I have lots of problems with the IBS--constant D.  In the past two years I have had lots of mechanical problems with the colostomy--hernia repair, loopage repair and now surgeon telling me might need to move it to the other side because the muscles in my abdomen are too weak to support the colostomy.  That is for another time.  Right now, for the past week and a half, I have been having sooooo much mucous in between my 6 or more D episodes. I also have specs of visable blood in the mucous.   I have had mucous here and there but nothing like this.  I feel soo run down too.  I have also lost about 6 pounds since this started.  Is this part of the IBS or do you think it could be Crohn's related.  The IBS is new to me (2 years) the crohn's has been around for about 20 years.  Any advice about mucous would be helpful.  Thanks, Claire

Hi Claire,
There is an issue here in that you have both and blood and weight loss. Mucous is pretty normal in IBsers and is harmless.
But because you have both issues and two "red flags" for IBS,  blood and weight loss. I would see a doctor about it.
