So my gastroenterologist suggested I used Miralax daily... has anyone tried this approach? It WAS working until I had another huge flair up recently... from what? who knows anymore !

I'm still trying to figure out what sparks the bloated-ness and my severe constipation... I think it may be raw veggies and anything high in fiber? Especially cereal, bread, ect... anyone have the same problem? Also trying to figure out if fruit does it too... I know bananas and maybe peanut butter (two of my favorite foods!).

Hey, if your not having BM'S then you can take Mirilax up to 3 times a day.  All those things you mention give gas, and if you are allergic to dairy it will give you 10x the gas.  I had to stay away from all vegies and most fruits except canned peaches.  No fiber as it too added gas for me and constipated me.  Mine just kept getting worse and worse till I could not eat anything at all....so now that they have done a total colectomy on me...I can eat without any worries, but its taking time to introduce new foods into my diet.  Good luck to you.

I too take the miralax, once daily after breakfast, and it works miracles for me. I find that as long as I don't eat too much food, and stick to foods I know won't upset me,I'm nearly normal, usually able to go once daily. i still have flair ups sometimes of constipation, and my doctor said that when I do I should just double up (once at breakfast, once at dinner, not all at the same time)and that seems to help, plus lots of water, until I'm back to "normal". so i would def. recommend it. I hate having to take anything, but this drug has saved my life. and for me,there was absolutely no harsh side effects. good luck to you.:) hope u feel better.(and I totally feel you with the peanut butter thing...I can't eat it either,I miss it so much!:P) lol.
