Hello all, I've had many tests for things like c-diff, giardia, blood etc and all have come back normal. First thing I have to do in the morning is run to the bathroom. The bathroom trips and cramping continues every hour for at least 5 hours and then settle down. My GI Dr said I will need a colonoscopy (scheduled that already) The cramping, in my lower left intestine area, is horrible. I am very weak from it. My sister has IBS and my Dad has Crohn's.
I haven't been able to pinpoint any specify type of food that causes this. They prescribed dicyclomine for me until they can get me in for the colonoscopy. I have not picked that up yet because I'm not good with drugs. Has that pill helped anyone? Any input would be helpful.
thank you

Only a doctor can diagnose you with IBS and its based on a "specific cluster of symptoms" as there is no specific test for it, but there are specific guidelines for diagnosing IBS. Although it sounds like it and IBS is common.

You might want to look over this site.

Let us know how the colonoscopy turns out or if we can help in anyway. The colonoscopy can rule out things and make sure there is nothing really serious.

Well I think I'm on to something here. At the same time these gastro problems started, I was put on hrt (progesterone) I stopped the progesterone and the gastro symptoms stopped. There seems to be a connection here...

Baker1, you should tell your doctor about that and see what he says.
