Hey all, first time poster here, so glad i found this forum is was becoming lonely in the IBS world..

I'm 28 years old and doctor just told me last thursday that i have probably got IBS, my symptoms only just started back in january this year but it seems to be slowly getting worse but by reading alot of other stories on here it will only get even worse :(.

My symptoms seem to be different from alot of yours though, i dont get pain or cramps ever (maybe i will get them eventually) my symptoms are as follows:

Everytime i eat no matter how small i get the feeling that i need to empty my bowel but IF i went to the toilet everytime i felt that i would be sat there for a long time with not alot happening.

I have to go to the toilet every morning without fail before work otherwise i feel i need to go all day and i have really bad smelly wind

I get the bloated every now and then but going to the toilet relieves this.

My belly grumbles and makes weird bubbling noises (not very often though)

And i get bad smelly wind that comes on all of a sudden but that clears up as soon as i go to the toilet..

Over the last few months of going to the doctors i have been tried of various things, the first was being prescribed with mebeverine this was when i first got the symptoms and these seemed to do totally nothing for my problems (maybe they would now i know about the eating side of IBS etc, i knew nothing about it back then)

When they didnt work i went back and saw the doctor who tried me on some tablets for my body producing high acidity i cant remember the name of these the packet has been thrown out, i personally thought these worked with everything apart from needing the toilet after i ate but my doctor was having none of it and this is when he said it was IBS..

So this time he has put me on fybogel which he was very confident would help cure my symptoms, now i only started taking these on thursday but upto now they have had no affect whatsoever still early days i know but...
The doctor also said that IF they dont work after a month he will see about getting me checked out inside with a camera to make sure everything is in the right place etc, which of course i would be happy with just to put my mind at rest if nothing else..

Does this deffo sound like IBS to everyone else? Last year and all through my life i had a really strong stomach and could eat anything, anytime and any amount then this came on all of a sudden..

Also does anyone have any tips for things to eat etc if it is IBS ive been reading round but some sites say certain things r good for u and then another site will say the opposite..

Sorry about the long post and thanks to everyone that reads it, it means alot.

Neil

Neail, only a doctor can actually diagnose you.

However, do you get discomfort at all?

" i dont get pain or cramps ever (maybe i will get them eventually) my symptoms are as follows:"

Pain or discomfort is a requirement for IBS. However there are other functional disorders like funtional d where there is no pain.

It may be to early to tell.

You might want to get a colonoscopy soon with his advise.

This is a very accurate website on IBS.

IBS is diagnosed by a very specific cluster of symptoms, minus red flag symptoms.

IBS food information and diet information.

and

Let me know if there is anything else. The above are the basics for foods and IBS, but each person might tolerate certain foods for certain reasons.

What are you eating now for the most part and what foods seem to bother you now?
