Hello everyone! I am a newbie here!

I have IBS-C. I can go about 7-10 days without a bowel movement. Then when I finally go, I have diarrhea for hours on end. Sometimes the diarrhea may go for 2 -3 days. Then I am constipated again for DAYS! Everyone told me to change my diet, exercise, etc. Nothing worked. I recently seen a commercial for Miralax. I took a dose last week (just one dose). I took a dose last night and a dose today. I have had a bowel movement each day. However, the consistency is kinda crazy!

Has anyone else tried Miralax? If so, what were your side effects? I am glad that I have found something that works but I am scared that I will not be home one day, and get the urge to go to the bathroom and I am in a public place!

Hi Prissy.. I too have IBS-C..it sure can be miserable.. Over the years I have tried alot of things but the one thing I keep coming back to is Senokot-S.. I get the generic brand which is a whole lot cheaper..for the past 6=8 months.. I too have taken the Miralax and it works pretty good for me too.. If I am going somewhere I only take the one dose in the morning with my senna-s tablet .. I don't take anymore until I get home again.. but I usually take it 2 times a day.. The biggest complaint I have is the bloat..my stomach is always bloated really bad and I look like I am 7 months pregnant..but not only that it is sooooooo uncomfortable! I have another thing bothering me right now and I suppose it could all be related.. I have had a pain in the center of my left shoulder blade for the past week..it comes and goes most of the time but has stayed there for hours on end at a time.. miserable really.. I wonder if its something I am eating and is trapped gas.. I did read some other blogs with ppl saying that.. some said gallbladder and others gerds.. I think its all related to the IBS for me tho. Have you ever had any of these symptons?? Hoping we can all help each other because this is sure miserable..~! Hope some of this helps you.

Been wanting to go to a gastro for years now, but haven't had insurance. Now that I finally have insurance, another health problem arises. (headaches) I have a thread on that, currently. As soon as I figure out my headache problem, which I think i might just be getting to that point, I'm going to a gastro. I've had problems going for probably 6 years. I'm a 31 year old male, 140 pounds, 6-1.

My problem is that my body will hold tons of stool at a time,'only letting out small pebbles every now and then. Sometimes, I get lucky and produce big pebbles. Rarely nice soft ones, like we're supposed to. What eventually happens, is that after maybe 2 months of build up, it all comes out in one sitting. Some well shaped stools and some diareah too. You want to talk about pain? THAT is painful. Not the actual stool coming out (literally) but the fact that there's so much wanting to come out at once. It's so bad it makes me want to throw up at the same time.

As for the mirilax, it's absolutely wonderful. Thought the first time I took it, I filled the powder all the way to the top. Bad idea. Hit me like a ton of bricks and it ALL came out at once! PAIN!! Anyway, now I just drink one full glass of water with
a decent amount of powder and it helps. I need to use it more often though. But yeah, I highly recommend it! No nasty taste and works wonderful.
