I have asked the mods in the Anxiety/Panic forum if we can join them at chat tonight.  The topic is Anxiety and GERD and I know that a lot of us here (me included) fit into this category with either one or the other or even both.  Sarah (mod) in Anxiety/Panic said that would be fine so if any of you wanted to join in, that would be great.

Here is the thread to the chat announcement... tongue

I have suffered from heart burn from the day my IBS started. I have gone through many tests for everything (scopes, blood, etc.) but my doc never actually said I have GERD. However, all the docs I've seen over the years in the process of being diagnosed with IBS, have prescribed Prevacid. Do you think if I had GERD one of them would have told me, or they would have seen it with the scope (EGD I think it is called???)? Is GERD easily detected?
Thanks for listening.

A endoscopy should have detected some erosion in your esophagus if you have acid reflux (GERD). It's possible to have the heartburn without the reflux. Has the Prevacid helped you at all?

I was never made aware of any erosions. I guess that means I don't have it. That's good I guess, but it doesn't make me feel any better about my heartburn.
Yes, the prevacid helps. Unfortunately, my prescription ran out so I have resorted to Zantac. Truthfully, it sucks. Anyone have any better suggestions?
