Unfortunately, I don't have msn messenger. I'm sorry if you feel that this site isn't helping. We do our best to not let any question go unanswered and I feel that all of the members bring a lot of experience. Please, if there is a suggestion on how we can improve this forum, please let me know either here or you can email me directly.
Thanks

Maybe you could take up yoga, pilates, or walking (anything) for stress relief. There are also many anti-anxiety meds out there. I'm sure if you talk to your doc about all your stress he/she could work with you to find a med that helps. Antispasmodic meds may also help you with your cramping. There is a lot you can try. Be picky about what you eat, try taking Beano for the gas, take ginger pills or some sort or ginger tea or mint tea to help settle your stomach (also good for digestion). You can also drink camomile tea while working to help keep you calm.
Fire away with all your questions and we will try to answer them as best we can.

As long as you are stressing your IBS will be "flaring." IBS doesn't go away so I'm not sure it's really a matter of how long flares will last. If you ate something bad, if you are under stress, if you have been on antibiotics.... those will all make your IBS worse. Sometimes people feel like hell 24/7, sometimes D lasts a day, sometimes only an hour or 2. It all really depends on the circumstances. Some of us use heating pads for the cramps, others take anti-spasmodics, and many wait it out. You and your doc have to find what works best for you. I take probiotics everyday and take extra when I'm having D. Although, I'm still trying to learn how to cope with this; it is an ongoing education.
A stomach bug usually only last a few days tops, usually only 1 or 2 days (what I've heard).
