oh! i have just felt awful. mostly everytime i eat, within 5 minutes i am running to the bathroom. i do not get cramping just the i better hurry. i will go about 6 times and then i am ok. sometimes my poop is orange colored and just floats on top. yesterday we buried my father-in-law who suffered from alzheimer's for 10 years. we all went back to the church to eat. i ate my plate and then guess who was suck in the bathroom? it was horrible. i took 4 immodium and was still going. my husband was like " where have you been? pooping?". i just don't understand. i also have pain in my lower right quadrant. it's hard to say if it's anything gynecological. i would love some advice. thanks! lisa

Hi Lisa,
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Do you think the stress could be contributing to your problem? I know when in hard times my guts don't ever cooperate (even with Imodium, Pepto, etc.). I would suggest taking some time for yourself. Even better if you could get away for a day or 2. Do you have someone you can talk to (friend, family, counselor, doc)? Anytime my guts start acting up for longer than a day I like to sit down with my mom and let things all out (crying included). I complain about my life and my struggles and sometimes that helps me. Other times the storm has to be ridden out. Try to eat bland, low fat, simple foods that won't irritate the gut. Try eating foods that are known for causing constipation, like bananas. Or take lots of calcium to help absorb the excess water and soothe the inflamed intestinal lining.
Again, I'm sorry to hear of this tough time for you. I hope your system settles down soon.
Take care.
