Okay, I am new to this (not IBS, been 7 years), but new to talking about it. Always embarrased. A few questions....
Do many of you have D first thing in the morning, or have to run to bath during your first meal of day?
Do you have days where the pain is so bad, but not much comes out, just yellow, bile looking stuff...? really painful for like 3 days in a row and then you go back to normal non-painful really big runny diarrhea?
Do any of you feel that when you have a normal (not loose) bowel movement, that there is something wrong with you b/c it only happens about once every 6 weeks or so (the rest of the time is some form of diarrhea)?
Ugh, what is our lives that we are forced to talk about our crapping....frustrates me so............................................

Hi fieryvenuspie,
Welcome to HealingWell! :-)
Everything you wrote is common with IBS... unfortunately. I'm assuming your "yellow, bile looking stuff" is mucus. Or, if it burns it could in fact be bile and you may have a gallbladder problem.
Have you tried taking anything to control the D? Maybe calcium, probiotics, Imodium?
IBS sure is frustrating but hopefully we'll all be able to find ways to cope (thanks to this site!).
Take care.

I also have D first thing in the morning.  In fact, I go and think that I am done.  Before I am out of my bedroom, I am back in the bathroom 2 more times.  It doesn't matter how long I sit there, it always takes 3 trips.

After a meal... sometimes I don't even make it through the meal.  I am up and running.  It is awful, and I dread eating out and family meals like Thanksgiving and Christmas.  My immediate family understands, as much as they can, but it seems as if no one else (extended family and friends) can get this!

Personally, my diarrhea is cyclical, and comes about every 2 months and lasts for about 2 months.

Sometimes I just have Phlemmy-junk.  I also have ulcerative colitis.  So, I have blood in my stools too.  I am still not quite sold on the idea that I have IBS, as there is blood every time that I have diarrhea.  I am seeking a second opinion and a new GI.

It is good that you finally feel like you can talk about this.  It is certainly not a fun topic.  I dread thinking that I will be spending the rest of my life looking in the toilet.
