Hi guys n' gals

Just a quickie about spasms. I'm a bit confused about exactly what they are and how they feel. Now i'm pretty sure i get them - every now and then i feel my guts 'flutter' (for want of a better word) every now and then - sometimes this seems quite severe, although it isn't painfull as such. It is often accompanied by the feeling of gas either during or shortly afterwards.

So i'm just wondering if it isn't spasms at all and i'm getting mixed up with gas - i do get quite bad pain tho when i have severly trapped gas. - i just though spasms were supposed to be painfull!? Also, when i had a colonsocopy, the doc did say he saw my gut spasming - although i wouldn't know either way at the time!

So erm, what about you guys, are your spasms painfull - and how should they really feel? scool

My guess is that spasms are cramps. You know, those D cramps you get and then you have to RUN to the bathroom? I thought those were spasms.
The fluttering I think is just trapped gas.
Anyone else?

Thats what I have always understood also. The spasms will actually cause you pain whether the spasms are too slow or too fast. The fluttering is trapped gas that will make your intestines move as the gas is released through. My experience has always been if I'm fluttering a lot, make sure I am close to the bathroom because if the gas is pushing through like that then a BM is coming soon.

My stomach is also usually really hard and it basically feels like if you do a bunch of situps, except its my intestines, not my muscles lol. And then I have bad smelly gas/farts and then I usually have the oh-so-wonderful reward of D!!! haha im not sure ive ever had fluttering..but i've had rumbles for sure!!

I feel spasms or fluttering too. The thing I hate is sitting at my desk at work and feeling a very urgent feeling like I need to have an extra large BM and I better race to the bathroom, but when I get there nothing comes out or very little. I feel bloated all the time now. I hate it. No what you are going through.

I was wondering if it is okay to mention products on the forum. I tried some pills that I got at the health food store that really seemed to get rid of my symptoms for quite a while. The store was out and they are reordering some for me. I am hoping they work again.

Hi jano,

Yes, you can mention products on this site. You can't, however, push it on anyone or post links to sell it. You especially can't do any of the aforementioned if you are in any way associated with it and/or making a profit off it. Otherwise, it is free game.
I hope that helps.

Take care.

I don't have much fluttering  goin on, but when I get spasms or cramps (I am IBS-C) watch out!  It is soo excruciatingly painful, and my body takes over and my stomach heaves, and I think I'm gonna die, and then I am scared I won't! confused    Anyone else have it like that?  Sometimes I don't  go for a couple of wks, and then it builds up and BOOM it has to come out.  Not a fun thing. Fortunately it isn't always like that.

A couple of weeks? Sweet, you don't go to the doc, or ER, when this happens? That seems crazy. Do you take fiber and/or drink prune juice or aloe vera?

Sweet,
When I was IBS-C, 7-10 days was not abnormal for me but if it was longer than that, I called my doctor. Of course that was the trick you know cause as soon as I would make an appointment, I'd be running to the loo. A lot of canceled appointments, thank goodness my doc was understanding. Has the doctor prescribed anything? Zelnorm? Miralax? You need to find something that will work for you. Maybe try natural first as Lil suggested like prune juice or mineral oil.

The product that I tried and got at the health food store was Soloray, which is the brand, Intestinal Blend SP-24. It has garlic, black walnut, butternut, myrrh, irish moss. It seemed to get rid of my symptoms for a long time. I just ordered some more because they ran out. Your not supposed to take it continuously. I took 2 bottles of it and haven't taken it for a while.
