If it is, indeed, starting anew, I am going to have a cow.  Maybe it's too early to say.  But several days ago I started getting some sharp pains in the tummy, coupled with the oh-so-pleasant feeling of wanting to puke my guts out...followed by some very voluminous, die-hard diarrhea...followed by the slow creeping of a fever, now hovering constantly around 100 with or without Tylenol, just high enough to feel its putrid existence.

No!  I won't stand for this!  I went something like three months with perhaps 5-6 days a month of diarrhea, and the rest of the time I had NICE bathroom habits, NO pain, and NO fevers.  I even GAINED three pounds during those months (I suppose from buying more food rather than more toilet paper).

Those three months were pure bliss, however.  That freedom, those days free of any bathroom-related worries!  I wish all of you could feel that!

Sarita, OH NO!! What the heck?
I'm sorry your problems are resurfacing. Are you still on your combination of meds, probiotics and vitamins?
(((BIG HUGS)))
Do you think you just caught a bug? Have you done anything different?

I'm so sorry Sarita. I hope things aren't coming back in full swing again for you. Like Lil said, maybe you just caught a bug, you know how that makes the guts worse. Please take care of yourself and drink your gatorade. Will be thinking of you and hoping that this will pass.
Hugs, Des

Oh girl, this sucks!  Here's to hoping it's the flu.  Have you gone back to the dr.?  How frustrating to say the least.
Take care, Softy

Thanks for the empathetic words.  I haven't decided whether to visit the doc about this.  First of all, I don't really have a doc right now since my PCP left private practice and I'm hesitant about calling up the GI because he was totally flabbergasted about my case before and I doubt it will be any different now.  The only different symptom since he saw me last summer is this fever.  Hmm...I think I'm going to wait it out a little longer to see if it goes away on its own.

Thanks again, chicas.

Sarita, I had same symptoms a couple yrs. ago. Dr told me not to ever let severe pain along with fever go past 48 hrs. This can be very dangerous. In my case I had Diverticulitis not too bad. He told me never go past the 48 hrs or you could put your life in danger of a ruptured ulcer in the colon. Just felt I needed to share this with you. Best to you and may God bless!

Hi Sarita-
It's your pooping buddy from Bolivia! I had a fever at the beginning of FEb and tried to wait thru it, but it turned out to be shigella and I HAD to take antibiotics for it. Well, since then I think I have my c-diff coming back (cramps, mucus, urgent morning D), and I am definitely going home (thursday) to see what's up this time. Whatever bug you have, I must have it's twin as it lets me think I am getting better and then BOOM - it rains on my parade. You live in Alaska - right? What is the medical situation up there? Are there other GI's you can see?

The pain isn't very bad, actually.  Probably a 3 or 4 on the 1-10 scale.  Based on that, and the fact that my fever isn't going past 100.5, I don't think it's anything very serious.  It's definitely nagging though!  The nausea is very unpleasant as well, but I took the anti-nausea med Zofran today and that was helpful.  I'm going to see how things go over the next couple of days.  For sure, if I feel very badly I will get myself to the doc.

M&ms, I'm glad you're getting yourself checked out.  Hope whatever it is is treatable, although these days, especially as a traveler, it's hard to tell what is or isn't.  We really seem to be identical in our sufferings, unfortunately.  Let us know how it goes!

Didn't you have a low grade temp back before when you were flared up? I was thinking that was one of your signs of IBD even though they can't find IBD in you. Pretty par for your course, isn't it?

I'm sorry you are feeling sucky again, BUT that was the first remission you've had, so hopefully you can look forward to having more remissions. Hard to make vacation plans around it, but better than no remisisons at all. (I'm trying real hard to find a silver lining for you :-) )

How is the boy working out now that you're bad sick again? Still going good there, I hope.

Keri, yes, I had a long-term low-grade temp for quite a while there that made me feel just plain ick, and that too went away when the guts started regulating themselves.  I hope this doesn't last as long as the previous "flare" did (what was it, almost a year?!).  I haven't started back on that nightmarish regimen of probiotics, vitamins, fish oil, calcium, and fiber supplements yet; I didn't really notice that it changed much for the two months I tried 'em, and the remission came on without their help.  Still, I bought myself some of that Activia yogurt for a trial period...couldn't hurt.

The boy is great.  He pumps me up by calling me a trooper and he'll go out and get me yummies like Gatorade, peppermint tea, and gummi bears when I'm not up for real food.  He keeps me feeling uplifted.  Pretty blissful to have him in my life.  Yeehaw!

Sarita, I am so happy for you that things are working out with the boy. It is nice to have that sort of support when you're feeling so crappy (literally!).
Good luck with the Activia... let us know if it helps you at all.

Okay guys, this is VERY weird.  I am constipated today.  I have never, ever been constipated and it is very unsettling.  I know I need to go but I can't.  The nausea is back and very unpleasant.  Temp is between 99.5-100.  Getting a little diffuse abdominal pain here and there, nothing major.  Why am I freakin' constipated?  I'm used to going 3x/day at least.  It is the most odd feeling.  I just feel so...odd.  No change in my diet whatsoever lately, nor in medications.

Strange... I say wait it out for just a bit. (Side note: It must be kinda nice to be C after being D for so long... No?) If you are still not going, and are still unsettled about this, I would see a doc ASAP.

Please keep us posted.

There are times when I get constipated after having too loose a stools for a while and I enjoy it. Until the second day, when I start fretting as much over not going as going.

I know you said you haven't changed you medicines, but if you normally take something for the diarrhea--Immodium, calcium, etc--you might want to forgoe your daily dose until you get back to... um... normal.

I have also had times where I have pooped my system clean and then just had the "dry heaves": I feel like I need to go, but there's nothing there to come out. Maybe you've pooped yourself clean? Make sure you're not dehydrated.
