I was ok all day yesterday, very minimal gas....not stinky either, but last night around midnight I was awakened with gurgling-which I could feel it pushing out gas-which it did-not stinky.  I also burped three times, then I was good-back to sleep.

It is so frustrating!  I am trying to think what caused this?  I ate turkey breast, small amount of peas/carrots, potatoe w/out skin, and honey mustard.

Hi JHP,
Sometimes just plain old IBS causes it without reason. The biggest culprit that I can guess that caused you the most problems with gas is the potato... and peas (they belong to the legume family (same as beans) which are known to cause gas). Have you tried taking beano before you eat to see if it makes a difference? Also could be something you ate prior to this that contributed as well. Do you drink sodas? They are known culprits as well.

It could be the time you eat too. I have noticed that if I got bed only an hour or 2 before a meal I will wake up with gurgling, nausea and maybe even D a few hours later.

No, I don't drink pop. I am having such a hard time knowing what to eat? I want to start my Zelnorm again as it helped with my gas, but I am not constipated right now.

7Lil-I stay up about an hour in a half after I ate. I try not to eat late....!!

If you can, try to eat your supper even earlier than an hour and a half before bed. I found back when my gall bladder was bad that I could tolerate eating pizza, so long as I didn't eat it after 4pm and didn't go to bed before midnight. Basically, I let it get WAY through my system before laying down on it. I was in college at the time, so I could be flexible with my meal schedules like that; I usually ate my supper fairly early, then snacked on lighter things that wouldn't bother me (cookies, crackers, ramen noodle soup, cereal) closer to bedtime.

I think it takes at least 4 hours for food to work through your system and for some people it can be slower than that. You may just be laying down before it has a chance to get far enough through your intestines to keep it from bothering you.
