Hi Everyone!
I'd like to give you all a heads up that I will be gone from HW for 2 weeks (until 6/11).  I'm going to Brazil tomorrow and I won't have much access to internet.
You are all wonderful and caring people, I know you will help dbab keep an eye on the forum.

I just hope my guts cooperate with me while on this vacation.  At the very least, I hope they treat me well for the airplane ride over.  tongue

Dbab - Sorry to leave you for so long.  You are a terrific Mod, thanks for all your help and support!

Happy health!!!

I had a great time, thanks Des! My guts cooperated. I drank milk and ate fresh cheese everyday - I'm guessing the calcium helped keep any D in check. I think the US needs a lesson in pasturization because Brazil's milk is so dang good. It comes in a box!! And, only needs to be refrigerated after it's been opened.

Mmmm... should have smuggled some (especially the cheese) :)

All kidding aside, I'm so glad to hear that you had a wonderful time. I know you needed that.

Actually, you can get the ultra pasturized milk in the U.S. I found some at Food Lion in the baking goods section (like where the powdered milk is kept). Apparently that's all the rage in France and I think the rest of Europe. It's pasturized at a lot higher temps than ours, which is what allows it to stay good on the shelf without refrigeration for up to 6 months. You have to consume it within a week aftre opening, though, and, as you noted, put it in the fridge at that point. But I think if our rinky-dink Food Lion has it, most other major grocery stores have it too. I so rarely drink any milk that I just buy the little pint containers when I need some for a recipe, but I may try some of the box kind if it tastes as good as you say. Sometimes you just need milk with a muffin or a cookie!
