Just went to my local pharmacy and found that Smith/Kline has recalled CITRUCEL. The druggist did not know why and I just
looked this up on the internet under FDA, etc. and no information. Does anyone know why this supplement has been recalled
because the shelves are bare where I shop. Thanks!!!

I just went to Citrucel on Yahoo and their website said that they are having production problems with Citrucel Orange and the sugar free orange.  This is what they are saying. They went on to say that it won't affect the shakes.  It said to watch the website for updates on when these products will be back on the shelf.  It said nothing about anything being recalled. I HOPE there is nothing wrong with it cuz I drink the chocolate shake for some help myself.  I'll ask my pharmacist tomorrow when I'm at work.  I'll report anything if it's different.

They have chocolate shakes? I thought it was just citrus flavor for fiber.

Hi to all- I have just confirmed- for those of us who take Citrucel products- that they have issued a voluntary and temporary recall of just the orange and sugar-free orange fiber powder. They apparently found "in very limited amounts in a very small number of batches" of the orange powder- thin strands of metal like objects.  (??)  They are saying that no one has reported any injuries or issues with this on the market and that they do not believe that the metal strands have made it out onto the market. They are still selling their other products and hope to have the orange back on the market in mid-July to August.

Canyonbabe- yes, they do market a 'FiberShake' in chocolate flavor. Of course, it's $12 for 7 oz.!!  It is also a powder and one can mix it with water or milk.  Considering it's fiber, it's not half bad.  Give it a try if your MD gives you the OK.  I also sometimes mix it with yogurt or frozen yogurt. Since I am not allowed regular shakes for obvious reasons, this is the closest I get!   LIfe is good, haha.

Thanks Carell for the information. I am still taking Citrucel, and will continue with the daily dose(s). I find that it helps. I use the clear mix! Thanks again!
