A lot of people have a hietal hernia. I seem to recall I have a small one that showed up on my endoscopy. But then, I've never had problems with my stomach, so that's nothing to worry me. I would think, given that yours is causing you so many problems, that you need to have something done about it. I would talk to my doctor and say hey, this constant vomiting has got to stop and the medicine isn't enough. What are my surgery options for getting this fixed?
It may truly be, however, that your hernia is no worse than anyone else's and that your problem is indeed with excess acid. But they have so many antacids available nowadays, it looks like surely one of them or some combination of them would help you. Make sure your doctor knows they aren't working and that you need to try something else.
