Hi,

I usually post on other forums and read this one.  I am so bloated that clothes are out of the question.  I have been burbing for 3 days!  My stomach is hard as a rock when I massage it I have the IBS pains of trapped gas.  I just now drank a half glass of water, 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda with 1/2 lemon.  Hopefully that will work.  It was recommended by a chiropractor.  I do not feel like it is heartburn.  I am better walking around or laying down.  It is driving me crazy!!  I will go thru bouts of bloating and the gas pressure, prolonged constipation with the IBS which is bad enough now this bites!  I feel like my stomach is in my chest.

Please share anything that might have helped you?  I do take Digestive Advantage Colitis and Miralax 2x a day.  I have the prescription Zelnorm.  do you think the zelnorm would help.

Thanks

Hi Tee,
Have you tried taking any OTC meds to help beat the bloat?  Gas-X?  I usually do a combination of tea and Gas-X.  I make tea out of fresh mint or I just buy peppermint tea.  Either way any "mint" tea should help cut the gas.  I also try to do some walking to get the gases moving.
I have never heard of water, baking soda and lemon.  confused    Did it work???  I can't imagine the concoction tasted too good.

Hope you're feeling better!

I just bought some gas-x getting the hot tea ready now.  Thanks.

The baking soda, fresh lemon and water is suppose to level out the enzymes and clean your system.  Nothing yet.

Not sure about the lemon as it is acidic. I have that same feeling quite often. I take a Gas-X or the stronger Phayzme after I eat and it helps tremendously. I don't wait for the bloat to come anymore. It has worked much better that way. I can't use peppermint because it is very bad for people that have acid reflux, good for stomach bad for reflux unfortunately. When i get really bloated and even if I have been going to bathroom fairly well I take a Dulcolax, just one and it seems to start everything moving again, especially the gas. sometimes my left side is sort of sticking out. I also take an antispasmodic like Levsin and that sort of relaxes the stomach. I can almost feel it drop to normal. That doesn't alway work though. Good luck. I don't know about Miralax and Zelnorm together.

I have heard (I think someone on here said it) that when cows get down with gas pains, farmers load them up in trailers and take them for a ride. Apparently the bumping jars the gas out of them. That and they give them pepto bismol. I have heard too that you can place a colicy baby on top of the dryer (so long as it doesn't get hot on top!) and the vibrations from that will help soothe it.

So maybe you should try jumping rope or sitting on top of your dryer?

OMYGOSH!

Bloating is so uncomfortable. I have had bouts where every bite I put into my mouth caused bloating and gas. The trapped gas is so painful. If you are having trapped gas, there are several things you can do.....lay on your bed and roll back and forth, over and over, then back and forth again. I know for a fact that this can work. When you are so miserable, you will try anything...sometimes this works.

Hmm, Dulcolax and hot tea....I am going to try that one.  Imodium and an anti-spasmodic helped me this week. I was in such misery! But, am feeling better now. The heating pad was making the pain worse.

One new thing I have tried is Fennel Capsules, at the Health Food Store, I take them (2) before I eat, during, or after, whichever works best for me. They seem to be doing a great job!! The bloating is not as bad as it was.

I definitely will not eat anything fried, If I do...my gut feels like someone has a pump on it and the intestines are filling up with air to capacity. This is very very uncomfortable. And, can turn out to be quite embarassing. I don't worry about the gas expulsion thing anymore, because I am so glad to get that gas out of my body. it seems like it is time for a celebration! My family knows how I suffer, and if I have gas, they know it is a good thing. And I am going to be feeling better!

Try the fennel, I swear by it!!  OH, and the peppermint tea too, it is great!!!
