Welcome to HealingWell!
So sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time. Hopefully you'll get some relief soon.
What has your doc said about
the bleeding? Blood is not a symptom of IBS. When they scoped you did they find hemorrhoids? Blood is usually caused by a hemmie, fissure, or IBD. It's good that you're going back to the doc... hopefully you'll get some answers.
I'm assuming the pain med your doc will give you is going to be an antispasmodic. There are several out there so if the 1st doesn't work for you, don't be afraid to ask for another option.
In addition to a pain med, you might want to talk to your doc about
ways to control the D. Calcium is widely used among IBSers to help control D. The most popular is Caltrate w/ Vitamin D.
Do you take probiotics? If not, you might want to start. They will help replenish the good bacteria that is lacking in order to keep your guts under control. Digestive Advantage for IBS is a good, mild way to start. You can also get similar "good bacteria" from yogurt. Eating at least 1 a day will help regulate things. Dannon Activia is great... or any "plain" yogurt is good.
Are you taking any fiber supplement? That can also help bulk up your stool.
Of course, don't try all of the above at the same time. Talk to your doc about
your options. Unfortunately, however, most of us only found out about
these helpful tips on this site. None of my docs ever mentioned Digestive Advantage, probiotics or calcium.
I'm sure others will be along with more tips. Take care and keep us posted on your doc visit.
