Hey guys

Well today was the day i got back my blood results and and the CT scan results.

The GI said my blood results were good and my CT scan results were good. He said everything was good and nothing looked inflammed. He also said i had good reflux or reflex but it was a work that started with the letter r. And i dont really remember the word....lol. Had a stool test and no parasites and also no blood. He said next step is colonoscopy and drink barium test.

I told him that all of this started with me feeling something in my stomach one day. And on that day i saw red like stuff in the stool but nothing on the toilette paper then i saw white like gel and massive gas. Then i told him the following weeks after that i started experiencing discomfort but not pain in the left side of my abs and that when i felt this discomfort more stool would come out but all small and there was a wierd smell and it felt very warm coming out. And then i told him one day i woke up and threw up 8 times in a row and that is when all my ibs symptoms like developed in the past 8 months is after that throwing up episode. He said the throwing up is irrelvant now because that happened 8 months ago. But before the throwing up even though i had the discomfort on the left side i was still having my mcdonalds...pasta....everything your not suppose to have with ibs and there was no problem i wasnt constipated anything i just felt the discomfort and once i had a bowl movement it all went away.

He was very surprised lets just say. He even told me this is tricky. I dont know what you might have. He asked me if i had diarrea i said not at all during the 8 previous months. He asked if i was constipated i said yes but then i went on saying i always have a bowl movement in the morning with one long strip of poop and then following by little like poop. And also at times its just little poop and big and chunky. I told him that my gas smells like something rotten at times. And this is no joke its nasty. I asked him if this could be IBS he said he doesnt think so i lost way too much weight. Also after anything i eat let it be a banana, crackers, cookies, rice i have a bowl movement. No diarrea just broken up stools in U shape or really long stools in the U shape about 30 minutes to an hour after i have a meal.

So finally he gave me a prescription for Fiagyl. He said there might be some bacteria in me. Because he really didnt know what to do. He said if that doesnt work then its a special diet i gotta see him again in Jan

I really hope its bacteria and some kind of imbalance.
Sorry for making this so long.

Don't forget to take probiotics while you're on the Flagyl, and Lil says she's seen them recommened for three months after; that's how long it takes to get your guts back in balance after antibiotics (and I think that's a strong one). But hopefully it will get rid of the bad stuff and you can get the good stuff put back in there and you'll be okay again.

If your doctor suspects a bacteria problem, there is a breathalyzer test you can take that's less invasive than a colonoscopy or barium drink.

Hey Keriamon

Thanks once again for replying. The thing is i always feel that there is something stuck in my rectum like poop...lol. And at times i feel like im gonna have a bowl movement but really its just gas that comes out. At times its just gas and at times its just foul smelling gas. Or on occasion its just white like stuff coming out guessing its mucus. Never experienced diarrea. But i do go to the bathroom after everything i eat. I just had jello and i felt bubbles like near my rectum and pushed as i thought i was gonna have a bowl movement and it was just gas that came out. But i dont think Jello is suppose to have that effect or am i wrong??

I really dont know what going on with my body as all of this happened after the throwing up 8 times in a row on may 1st. The GI said that this is irrelevant at this point but to me im like how is this irrelvant this is how the ibs like symptoms started. And i have had gastro twice in my life and threw up 8 times before 3 years ago all since the age of 19 and im 23 now.

Has anyone tooken Flagyl?? Ill try probiotics which one do you recommend? Also i was taking Silicia before all this happened to me so can that be the cause of all of this? Im reaching out to you guys because my second Gi is being helpful but i know you guys know more than any doctor. He said it is normal that i have a bowl movement after every meal but i dont feel emptied or get that satisfaction like i used to before.

I dont know if this has any significance but after may 1 when i threw up 8 times after a  few weeks went by i couldnt drink anything cold as it felt wierd on the left side of my abdomen and this is for alcohol as well. But now when i drink cold water and alcohol there is no problem so a sign that im slowly healing ?? It just that i dont know my body is weird and im getting kind of restless because i keep on loosing weight as well.

The pain on the left side on a scale of 1 to 10 is 1.5 it doesnt stop me at all i just feel it there and when i touch it i feel the pain more.

I keep on referring to ibs because my old Gi who i was seeing who didnt do any tests and spent 5 min max with me every appointment told me ahh its ibs stay away from food that cause gas etc etc etc. And i was like ok time to get a new GI.

Well thanks for you help guys and if you have any questions feel free to ask or post any comments im really learning a lot from you guys.

I think your doctor may be right about suspecting that you have a bacteria imbalance. You have all the symptoms of it, and it can come on after a round of antibiotics or illness (especially stomach bugs, like the one you obviously had when you were throwing up). Gas, especially stinky gas, is one of the big signs.

There are two kinds of probiotics you can take: simple and complex. Simple probiotics are acidophillus milk and acidophillus pills. Acidophillus is just one strain of bacteria. Also, some yogurts only have one or two strains in them. You can buy yogurt and acidophillus milk anywhere and it's an easy way to make probiotics a part of your daily routine. Complex probiotics are the pills which contain multiple strains of bacteria in very large numbers. The thing about the milk and yogurt espeically is that you don't get a whole lot of bacteria. They're more of a maintenance thing. While on antibioitcs or recovering from antibiotics or while sick with any sort of stomach bug or even cold, you should try taking the complex probiotics so that you get a large enough dose of enough stuff to try and get you back in balance.

There are two main brands of complex probiotics widely available: Culturelle and Digestive Advantage. Culturelle costs twice as much as Digestive Advatage, but the DA has a trace amount of sorbitol (sugar alcohol) in it, so if you are in any way sensitive to sugar alcohols (as I am), you should probably try the Culturelle. But if you dont' think it will bother you, get the DA; many people on here take it and get good results. They can be found in the digestive aids section of most any chain drug store, and you can probably even find them in the pharmacy section of big grocery stores too.

If you are not yet taking the antibiotics, go ahead and start yourself on a yogurt or two a day. The new Activia seems to be quite helpful, but higher-priced yogurts may serve as well or nearly as well if you want some flavor variety. I have heard that cheap yogurt has less bacteria in it than the more expensive kinds, like Stoneyfield organic yogurt (which is a good yogurt). If you drink milk, switch to the achidophillus variety. Then, when you go on the antibiotics, start taking the Culturelle or DA.

The thing about probiotics is that they're a lot like fiber; they take a little time to get used to. The number one complaint is gas pains. I suggest to a lot of people to start out with the yogurt and milk and then work your way up to the acidophillus pills and/or the complex probiotics. I take Culturelle when I have to take antibiotics. It gives me a lot of gas cramps, but it does keep me from getting diarrhea while I'm on the antibiotics, so it's a tradeoff. I'm on the acidophillus milk, pills and yogurt combo right now, trying to get myself back in balance after the last round of antibiotics I took back the first of November. Try taking your complex probiotic pill before bed, that way the worst of the gas goes through your system while you're asleep. I find a little gas cramping in the morning is easier to deal with than gas cramping all day.
