is it common to have both, IBD and GERD? I was diagnoised in 2000 with ulceriative colitis and the in 2001 it was Chron's... the doctors can never tell because it is always changing... but In 2000 i was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia as well... and I think this has caused me as much problems if not more... So is it common to have both?

I think there is often an overlap of symptoms. I know I have a terrible acid problem and when something throws that into overload I start with the other problems. Acid can cause gas, bloating, pain, spasms, polyps and you name it. It is much more than acid reflux.
When I have my GERD under control I have less problems with IbS-C
