IF you had a bowel burst or technically called a perforation, I kinda doubt you'd be able to be on the computer because the pain would have you doubled over, you'd be feeling very ill, nauseated, possible chills, ect...have you tried giving yourself a rectal enema?

You could go back to the ER again but they'll likely do the same thing as before, so unless you think it helped it might otherwise be a waste of your time, unless of course you do start having the above mentioned symptoms of an actual perforation...you could be having an obstruction/impaction and stool isn't able to get through.

Feel better soon :)

i tried rectal didnt like it, the oral lime flavored oral saline worked great i really really wend cool but what i began to notice is that unless the stool was runny like the oral saline made it i would have problems trying to expel it after constantly searching this great resource we call Google ive come to find that there are muscles in your rectum that must contract in regular motion while my symptoms show they might not be do to the nerves in my colon/rectum maybe not picking up when to contract from the brain do to damage by straining, or my muscles could be getting the signals but might just be weak do to longer use than recommended stool softener but how can stool softener really damage u it doest have any stimulants.. i just come from Walgreen's and bought 2 bottles of prune juice, 1 large Gatorade, and 2 bottles of the lemon oral saline lax.. ive drunk 2 glasses of prune juice and im just hopfully waiting for it to do its magic sad if that doesn't work i might try the oral saline which helped at the er but im scared it might not be good for me to do that since your not supposed to take it for more than once a week and i took one Thursday..

Well there is nothing wrong with my stomach it does it job really well, the problem is my rectum/colon.. its not pushing even as i sit there with the urge to go with 2 cups of prune juice i could feel the juice just gushing out by itself or moving around most of the stool in the rectum... why is my rectum not contracting? moving the food along it just stays there?

I honestly think you need to see a gastroenterologist and find out what exactly is going on with your contraction problems and such...this just doesn't sound right and by continuing on the way you are, you could be causing more damage to yourself and causing new problems as well...the reason it's not safe to take the phospho soda frequntly/regularly is because it can cause ulcers in the intestinal lining which can open up a whole new can of worms for you...get you doc to set you up with a specialist (gastroenterologist) aka GI as soon as possible.

Good luck :)

Just tell him you'd like to be referred to a good "gastro" or "GI"...he'll know what you mean, especially if you tell him about your troubles, heck, he may even send you to see a colon and rectom specialist first...I'm sure at some point you'll be seeing both specialists...I have.

Good luck and let us know how it goes :)

My story is complicated...I have crohns disease as well as IBS and lactose intolerance, same crap, different pile LOL!

One of my sisters has IBS only and my mom has ulcerative colitis (another form of IBD which consitis of either crohns or ulcerative colitis).

so with having CD and IBS I know that fibre is very important to have in the system to help keep things moving regularly...I also know that it's important to remove bad things from the diet like sugar, processed foods, fast foods, artificial sweetners, especially sugar alcohols, they can really do a number on IBS..."diet" anything should be avoided because of the artificial sweetners used in those products and that includes food and beverages...avoiding pop (soda) is especially important because of it's high sugar content or in the case of "diet pop" high artificial sweetner content.

I eat only fresh homemade meals, because I take a fibre supplement as recommended by my GI to help both my CD and my IBS I am now able to tolerate fibreous foods with no problems (gas and bloating).

I drink only water and chamomile tea, and on occassion 100% natural fruit juices. I avoid anything with preservatives/additives as this can be bad for both IBD and IBS...MSGs are killer for most. Caffeine is another culprit for IBS and IBD so I avoid it as well.

For my lactose intolerance I use Lactaid tabs but because of the good probiotic I take (primadophilus reuteri made by natures way) it is helpful for those who are lactose intolerant and from my experiance with it this is true.

Basically a good fibre supplement and probiotics daily are 2 very beneficial ways of helping IBS (and IBD).

Hi what up,
It is highly unlikely your problem stems from a Denny's steak. And, don't freak out too much about the long list of possible problems. See the doc and wait to cross that bridge when you get there.
Good luck at the doc today!!! And please keep us posted on the outcome.

I think what the people on your MySpace are worried about is that prolonged constipation--meaning that you don't expel any stool or not nearly as much as you need to--can cause serious problems, including bowel ruptures (although I think you have to be WAY backed up for that to happen in most cases). I think they are just trying to stress to you the importance of keeping your stools moving and of seeing a doctor to find out why they're not moving normally on their own. You may have some sort of blockage that's keeping everything except the most liquid stools from coming through. You may have a muscle problem, which may be helped by a drug called Zelnorm. Until you see your doctor, though, do everything in your power to keep your stools moving.

i told my doctor and he told me the same thing as the er doc. he told me to use an enema.. HELLO ive used enemas, oral saline, prune juice, stool softener.. they work only temporarily.. i like prune juice the most.. and ive also noticed but haven't wrote that when i push on the toilet i can feel sorta like when you crack your knuckle sound/feeling but in my lower back above the anus.. i feel i get better results when i stand in the shower and just go 'don't laugh' anyway after my mom talked to him he referred me to a gi cause im not using anymore laxs im only sticking to prune juice and water which is sorta effective.. i just had a 6inch subway turkey sub my first outdoor food for a while. Oh and i also start school tomorrow second semester for freshman college year..
m also expected to work a shift at our new clothing shop that my parents just opened this week which is a 7 to 8 job mostly nights except Tuesdays and Thursdays.. i barely have enough time to relax and get on my 360 from the holidays..

I might try this its safe and no laxs O_O

"You could go to a Chiropractor.

Sounds strange, like how's that going to help? Someone is most likely reading this saying this guy is crazy.

But I have helped many people with constipation go again within a couple adjustments. The most notable was when I was still in Chiropractic college. A mother brought in her eight year old son who hadn't gone in about ten days. They tried everything, stool softeners, greasy food, you name it and nothing worked. The kid was in soooo much pain, he just wanted to go. So I adjusted him and the next day when he got off the school bus he ran right past his mother and into the bathroom. Mom went in to check on him and there it was after ten days. Since being in practice I have found this wasn't an isolated case.

Here's how it works:

Each and every cell, tissue and organ of the body is connected to the brain via your nerves. Your brain sends and recieves information by using your nerves like telephone wires. When a nerve is interfered with your brain doesn't recieve proper information and/or the information that is sent out through your nerves doesn't get back to the organ/muscle/etc. Most often this happens at the spine.

So, like a light switch that allows or cuts off electricity to flow through to the TV/light/refrigerator, your spine does the same for your nerves.

The area of concern for the bowels is in your low back/sacrum (tailbone). Email me and i'll find you someone in your area ASAP who can help you out. You'll be going in no time."

You know, you mention that it's easier for you to try and go standing up. You might benefit from a squat toliet, like they use in Asia. Basically it's just a hole in the floor that they squat over. I've read from holisitic healers that it's supposed to be a more natural position than sitting and makes it easier to pass a stool. I've also read that you can simulate the posture on a regular western toliet by putting your feet up on a stool (not out in front of you like you'd sit in a recliner, but put the stool right up against the front of the toliet and draw your knees up close to you) and also sit up very straight. See if that helps your straining any.

I noticed that leaning back while sitting on the toilet can help. Also, I actually heard about rocking back and forth from a doctor.

What up,
Don't panic... wait a little while for things to start moving. When was your last BM? If it was over a few days ago then you might have a problem (impaction?) and may need to see a doc. BUT, if you're the same as usual constipated, you might want to take a stool softener or a mild laxative tonight and see what happens in the morning. You might want to stay away from fast food too... especially if you consider yourself to be overweight (sorry, I don't know your height so I can't judge if 200 lbs is over weight). Also, mucus is common with IBS. Do not worry about that unless you are seeing blood as well.
