First and foremost I am so happy to have found this site, I was starting to feel like nobody could possibly understand what I am going through, I thought maybe I was "weird"!  So hello to all.

about 4 weeks ago I went on vacation, it was really odd becuase I started throwing up after I ate or had a lot of acid.  I was constipated for 10 days!!  I was tired all the time, and took 2 hour naps almost everyday!  The oddest part was I was getting this constant pain in the area of my heart, it was really scary and it spread up around my breast.

Upon my return I went to see the doctor who said oh these are just all the signs of constipation, after feeling my stomach she said I had alot of poop back up and that my intestines were pushing into my ribs which was causing the pain.  Anyway, she put me Miralax 3 times a day for 10 days, after 4 day I had the diharea all the time, there would be no way I could go to work ( I had already taken 4 days off!!)  so I stopped taking it.  Tonight I had such bad stomach aches and had such a hard time passing any stool.  I did but it was really difficult!  She also prrescribed Zelnorm, but after googling it there seems to be a lot of negativity from the FDA.

I guess my question is has anyone else had problems with Miralax?  I hear alot of great reviews on it, I feel like I'm the only person it's not working for?  Also, does Zelnorm give you dirahea all the time?  I'm going to try increasing my fiber with prunes and prune juice, also kashi has a new cereal Vive, and Danactive yogurt?  Do you think this will be enough?

I just turned 26 today and this IBS is starting to depress me, I feel like I will never lead a normal life.  I have been in the hospital 3 times becuase of stomach problems!!  I hate going to work becuase after being constipated I seem to then get bouts of D. for a while, and I hate thinking of being in meetings all day while suffering with that.  I've just been diagnosed with the IBS and I dont know how to deal with it!!!

Sorry for blabbing but I'm would just love some support from those dealing with this, nobody seems to understand my "nervous stomach" as they like to call it!

You may have caught some sort of bug while on your vacation. As Indersonu mentions, there is a bug that's going around. Sometimes these bugs upset the bacteria in our digestive tracts and we can't seem to recover to normal afterwards. Try probiotics--these are good bacteria. You can find them in yogurt--including the Dannon Activia--and you can also get them through acidophillus milk, acidophillus pills (vitamin section), or probiotic products such as Digestive Advantage or Culturelle. After my last round of antibiotics, my guts got out of whack and I did the Dannon yogurt for three weeks and they have been back to (their version of) normal ever since. At least try two of the yogurts a day for two-three weeks to see if you get any better. When I was on the yogurt, I noticed improvement immediately, but would go back to being upset if I stopped; it took three weeks solid before I was able to go off the yogurt and stay normal. I also drink about a cup and a half of acidophillus milk a day.
