Has anyone had trouble digesting rice.

My body just doesnt digest it, it goes in the same way it comes  out.

This is basmati brown rice....the one you cook for 40 minutes, NOT instant rice.

My stomach makes very loud noises when i eat this too.

any ideas

I'm not sure, but I think rice contains gluten. You might want to check and see if it does, then see what happens to your bowel problems if you totally eliminate gluten from your diet. You may eliminate your bowel problems as well.

Thanks!

I checked the bag, and it says Gluten free.

Im going to ask my Dr.

It seems I remember reading that some people dont have the enzymes needed to digest the rice.   I dont know.

Rice does not contain gluten, matter of fact, it's one of the few grains those with celiac disease can have. Also, doesn't the brown rice still have more of the fibrous hull than white rice? That extra bit of fiber coating on the grain could be why it just goes through you. Is this a recent development?

LOL JustK! I haven't been on the boards in a couple months, so you may have posted already, but do you have celiac disease? If so, the following link has some really good info about it and examples of a gluten-free diet.
