I have 2 popup blockers and never get popups until today on this site. Anyone else having problems. My blockers are turned on. They are mostly Bluefly and making me crazy.

Hey Canyon,
That Bluefly website pop-up is quite bothersome today. The site Admin needs to advertise and unfortunately Bluefly's ad is super annoying. There really isn't much you can do about it unless you use Firefox (i/o IE).
It shouldn't be there too much longer... These ads get rotated out fairly quickly.
Sorry!

I know me too... unfortunately nothing can be done at this time. It seems like this is not the type of popup that is affected by our pop up blockers. I have heard that its mainly affecting people using IE so if you have another browser that you can use, you may want to try it. Unfortunately ads are so important to the site because it helps to keep HW in business along with members donations. Hopefully it won't last too long.

Canyon, apparently this ad is a "Flash" ad. If you can block the flash player then you can block this pop-up. Otherwise, sorry.

I just hate to think that these popups are getting around the popup blockers as I am afraid of what we are in for if that happens. I can handle it it is just unusual as I never get popups anymore and hope to continue that. Yes, I have IE. Thanks, I will endure, I am sure.

It's not a pop-up Canyon, because it doesn't come up in a separate window.  That's why your blocker can't get it.  It's a regular, in-line ad that expands its bounds (by way of Flash player, as dbab mentioned).  I get the same sort of ads on MSN on occasion and they drive me batty too.  At least this ad had a large "close X" box.  Most have a teeny-tiny one that's hard to find and that usually leads you to accidently clinking through on the link, instead of closing it.  That's why they do it.  Some even take up the whole screen.

While ads are great for keeping services free, they are a double-edged sword.  I quit checking in here yesterday evening because I didn't want to have to keep turning the ad off everytime I looked at the main board, an individual message, or made a reply.  So they can drive people away.
