Hi There,

I am 37 and have had IBS since about the age of 19-20.  My symptoms are usually the normal muccus from during bowel motions and about once a month, extreme pain before passing a stool.  For the last week I've started experiencing a new symptom and that being a constant pain in the lower abdomin.  It kind of feels like my bowel is twisted or tight.  It seems to have lasted all day and night for the last 6 days and only seems to fade a little at night when I lie down.  The doctor put me on my first medication for IBS and the symptom started a few hours after the first dose.   I have actually had this symptom before about 15 years ago and it lasted for about a month and then went away after my first colonoscopy.   Any ideas?

Also,  I've found that after exercise, my symptoms flare up.  When I say exercise, I mean strenuous exercise like running/sprint training for Rugby.  I know marathon runners often get the trots when they finish a marathon but part of my problem always seems to be sore stomach muscles or colon after the sprinting.   Is there anyone out there that has this problem as well?

Kindest Regards.
