Hi saldessa, Welcome to Healing Well. :-)

I have not tried Welchol as I suffer from constipation prodominately however there are a few here that have tried it, mainly for missing gallbladder symptoms. Hold tight, I'm sure someone will come by and share their experiences. Sometimes the forum is slow on the weekends so don't worry if you don't hear anything right away.

Take Care

Hi and welcome Saldessa,
i am in the UK and have not even heard of that med, we are terribly behind here, but it may not be bad for long. With ibs, im sure it tries to fight everything we try to help ourselves. Stick with it a while, you usually need to stick stuff out for about a month with this thing. If you have D bad, ask a few people here about calcium. It has helped a great many people with bad d but i dont know enough to give you the details. I also find a good anti spasmodic like Buscopan helps a bad attack as it slows the movement down.
Good luck with it all, and i wish you all the best

Hi saldessa,
Welcome to HealingWell!  :-)
Do you have burning bile D?  Most people prescribed Welchol have a bile problem associated with not having a gall bladder.  Is this the case for you?
If not, as Indigo mentioned, calcium would be a great supplement to add to your diet.  The calcium absorbs excess water and helps control D.  Here is a great post about calcium and the specifics.
Do you take any probiotics or eat yogurt?  The good bacteria should also help your D.

Thanks so much for the replys to my post.  I do take calcium and have tried quite a few other meds.  As far as I know I do not have a Gall bladder problem.  I feel like I  live chained to the toilet  so so depressing!!

Does your D burn quite often? Do you feel nauseous and have pain? If you do, those are all symptoms off gall bladder issues (not strickly gall bladder though). Have you had an ultrasound or hidascan to check your gall bladder?
Seems that calcium should be helping you. What dosage are you taking? Most people can take up to 1500mg of calcium a day without it affecting their kidneys... Maybe you could up your dosage if you're only currently getting a fraction of that. A few of our members take one 600mg pill in the morning and then another 600mg pill at night. It seems to help control the morning D (which has proven to be the time of day most of us have trouble with D).
I hope you can break free from the toilet soon! We are here to help if we can. :-)
