Has anyone tried the product Digestive Advantage? I saw an add for it in Prevention Magazine and am tempted to try it. There seems to be more than one kind: one for IBS and one for Colitis.  I have IBS with C more than D. It seems that I've been on everything, Librax, Donnatol, and Bentyl. Both the librax and Donnatol concern me because of the Librium and Pheno barb. Also I can't say that any have been really great either. If  any of you know if this is good or a complete waste of time I'd like to know.      Thanks Merri

I just received my free 8 day sample of the IBS formula. I'm going to start it on Monday just to see. If you go to their website, you can sign up for a free sample of any that they have. I probably should've selected the one for constipation, but thought I'd see if the IBS formula would be better - all the way around. What the heck, can't hurt right? May even help! I believe there are others here who actually have tried it though - hopefully you'll get some feedback on that.

It has been mentioned frequently on the forum and many people have had good success with it. I didn't know they had one for constipation but they have extended the line. I have used it but my IBS is not an all the time thing. It seemed to help my digestion. Certainly didn't hurt. It is just a probiotic which aids digestion by adding good bacteria to the stomach.

Thanks so much for your input. I didn't notice a seperate one for C but I'll look. I find that if I take Colace for a night or two I can expect to feel like garbage when It starts working as it's an all day affair. I'm so fed up with the gas and bloating and being told it's all stress like I'm some nut that is creating an illness. I'm not sure that folks are getting wonderful results from antidepressents either althoough I find it sometimes helpful to take 1/2 Valium before I go out. I know all the "calming meds" are constipating too so you really can't win. I used to get D fairly often but not lately. I was told I had Diviticulosis at my last colonoscoopy along with IBS but the gastro dr waved it off as not much or important. I on the other habnd find that I worry about it going into Diviticulotis especially since I'm one of the people who will get sort of chills ( no fever) with an attack. DR says that's common. If so I wish they would list it as a symptom.

Merri, go to this website (sorry I can't make it a workable link) - it's by the makers of Digestive Advantage.

http://www.ganedenbiotech.com/

On the right side of the page (directly under the Guarantee), there is a tab to request free samples.Click on it - all of the products are there, you just need to choose one. Good luck.

I have been using digestive advantage for a month now and was very nervous about trying it. I did not want to have side effects and did not want to become dependent on it. I spent a lot of time prior to taking it doing research online and read a lot of reviews. The info I found was that the overall success rate is high. The side effects are mainly just gas. I did not seem to have this problem. I only take it once with my dinner. I have been completely regular, except right before my period and even that attack was more mild than usual!!! I usually am constipated and then get cramping and diharrea around my period, but now Im a lot better. And if your lab eats a few ills off the counter, it wont hurt him. :-)

There are several different kinds, IBS formula, constipation, and lactose intolerance. I use the IBS formula. I saw A LOT of people complain about the chewable tablet and said that the tablets you swallow work much better. Apparently, the chewable have artificial sweeteners in them with can be hard on IBS sufferers. I bought 120 tablets of the swallowing kind on Amazon.com for around 20 bucks.

I will say that Activia yogurt also has sugars and I had a horrible experience using it. I had over four attacks each week during the two weeks I used it. I was instantly better once I stopped it. I then chose to try the Dig Adv and so far so good. Good luck, let me know if I can help any more. Trry google for online customer reviews. Free sample comes in chewable form and takes forever to arrive. i couldnt find non-chewable in stores. however, chewable you can find anywhere.

Thanks so much for your advise. I called for a sample as I wasn't sure what kind to ask for  ( I'm constipated too with gas and bloating at certain times of day thrown in) they said the IBS form takes care of all of it. I didn't realize it would be the chewable ones. I hate medication you chew. I'll look in the stores . We have a big health food store in town maybe they have it. I know the sample will thak 4 to 6 weeks! I don't find any of the wonder drugs so wonderful and was reluctant to try this without someone 's opniion first. You all are a great help.      Thanks       Merri
