Hello again. Still gassy and now have some rectal pressure and fullness. I had this 17 years ago and it has recurred.

I am submitting a stool sample tomorrow morning to the GP who still feels the sig is the way to go - just under 3 weeks to that now.

I have been doing some research on virtual colonoscopy which is offered at BUPA hospitals here in England. Has anyone had any experience of this procedure? I feel it would help to allay my fears (but not my bank manager's)

The main problem with the virtual is that you still have to do the whole cleanout and then if they see any polyps or anything out of the norm you have to have a regular colonoscopy. It has been around for a number of years now but it just hasn't become mainstream here in the US.  I am not sure it is even covered under most insurance plans though it may be. I personally don't know anyone that has had it. I was thinking about it originally but thought I best have the regular one done and since I had polyps I have to have it repeated every two years. Hopefully this year they won't find any but not much chance of that.

Sarita, you are never behind the times. LOL Here is a link that explains it well. Most of these places you go for other scans as well.

Have now booked a vc for first week in October - earliest I could be seen. In the meantime I have the rectal sig and I suppose might be recommended for a proper colonoscopy on the basis of what is found there.

Will let you know how I go on.

Do you have to pay for the VC where you live or is it part of your system? I know they run a few hundred dollars here.
