I take Miralax and have been for over 2 years now. I think its great but I do remember in the beginning that I had increase gas and pressure in my abdomen. That went away though as my body got used to it. It does that in the beginning because its basically clearing you out. Once you get past that rough patch, you should be smooth sailing. This stuff has been a miracle for me. I still get occasional problems but nothing like I was before I took it (I used to go 7-10 days without a BM before).

im still having trouble with the miralax
i just found out the hard way ( when i cheated on my diet and had TACO BELL )
that foods that didnt upset my stomach are not putting me in this extreme pain that i have never felt before or in along time!

how long was it before the bloating and pain goes away or how long was it for you before it went away?

I'm sorry I didn't see this nst, I have been away nursing a diverticulitis flare. Miralax won't take away the pain that you get with IBS if you are not following a strict diet that you normally would need to with your IBS. The pains you are getting is because you have IBS.

Miralax will help you "go" but you still have IBS and you will continue to have the pains unless you stay away from your trigger foods. My advice would be to start a food diary and you will start to recognize foods that cause you discomfort. I feel so bad for you because I know you are young and I'm sure a strict diet is very hard at that age. My IBS started when I was 14 and following a diet was so hard for me at that time.

Im supposed to be on a Low Carb diet and after my lab results came back he said a low fat diet but my moms wants me on Weight Watchers

I think I could go back to school in October.. its just the stomach pains I get sometimes are just too much

How often do you take Miralax I know your not supposed to take it 7 days straight so far i have taken it about once a week..

I have taken Miralax (glycolax -generic version) every day for over the past 2 years!! Of course that is under my doctor's supervision and care. I have read though recently that Miralax is being considered as a long term therapy for IBS-C. Anything that you take OTC that has not been prescribed or recommended by your doctor should not be long term until you get your doc's blessing. That way you can be monitored.

As far as the increased pressure in the abdomen and gas/bloating, yes that will occur in the beginning and I was under the impression that you were taking Miralax on a daily basis. Miralax has to kind of work up in your system so I'm not sure if you are really benefiting by only taking it one day a week. If you take it on a continued therapy, the gas/bloating usually subsides within a week at most.
