Too bad being a medical student doesn't make your health problems go away...I am having some absolutely terrible diarrhea lately.  I can't even make it through one lecture without running out to expunge the contents of my colon.  It is really irritating.  I am learning all about diarrhea in lectures and what causes it and I can't figure it out what's causing it in my own body.

Yes, it's a stressful time, but really, 10-15 daily episodes of watery D is a bit excessive.  My thyroid levels are stable so it's unlikely to be the culprit.  Guess it's time for another trip to CostCo for a truckload of Immodium...

Thanks for letting me vent.

Hand up. "Professor... um... doctor! While we're on the subject of diarrhea, what's causing mine? Can I use myself as a test subject for my final term paper? Do I get bonus points if I find a diagnosis when even the Mayo Clinic was stumped?"

Med school is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life x10.

Having 2398424 BMs on top of that every day is too much.  Saw the doc today and she was like, "Dude, you need to see a GI within two weeks." I'm like..."I don't even have time to CALL a GI." Guess I'll do that tomorrow in between biochem lectures.

Sorry, I know I'm whining, but this is just ridiculous.  I can't believe this is my life right now.

I'm so sorry you are suffering like this.  I can't imagine trying to attend classes while dealing with the kind of D you are describing.

Is this your regular GI or someone new?  Are you taking anything to keep the D at bay?

I'm going to say a prayer for you tonight before sleep.  Hope you don't mind!

Thanks, gut.  It means a lot to me to get a little pat on the back!

I think I'm just doing something wrong here.  I'm not performing particularly famously in my classes.  I'm actually afraid I won't even pass all of them.  It's just a bit harrowing and demoralizing, but I'll get over it.  My doctor at least sent a letter to the dean to explain that I have to be excused to use the bathroom when necessary (yup, they even restrict bathroom trips in the middle of a 2-hour-long exam - that's an unprecedented amount of time to stay out of the bathroom, at least for me).  There's a step in the right direction, right!?

Thanks again.
