Hey everyone,it's been awhile, hope everyone is doing well,I've been hanging in there staying strong as usual.I just wanted to mention that I just started using a new probiotic called Acidophollus pearls I read about it on the internet and watched a video of a commercial on it,it is supposed to be one of the leading best one out there.I went and purchased it,I ended up getting the intensive care brand hopeing that it would be more powerful. It has only been a couple of days, but I haven't noticed any change, still experiencing excessive gas,it's really starting to get to me,especially in the morning.I live in a studio apartment so the walls are pretty thin,I pray when I go into the bathroom to pass all that gas that no one is walking by my apartment door in the morning hearing me pass all that gas, cause my bathroom is near the door,or that no one else in their apartments above or below can hear.I hate having that felling,I never look any of my neighbors in the eye really thinking that they may have heard me in the morning passing gas cause it is so loud at times, lol it sounds like a harley's engine, lol, lol. But besides all that I'm still going to take them and hope I notice a change, and my next visit with my gi doctor I will mention to him about giving me a small intestine bacterial overgrowth test.Till next entry everyone take care, love jtaurus :-) eyes

I have had luck with a number of them but everyone's body is different. That said it would be rare that an ad or video for a product would say anything other than that theirs was the best. I am sure they are fine and hope they work but I would not pay a premium for most of the probiotics as I am not sure there is big difference. Everyone seems to have their favorite.

I agree w/ Canyon that probiotics work differently on different people. I can tolerate acidophillus okay, but someone else on here--Lil, I think it is--can't handle it. On the other hand, she has no problems with Culturelle, but it is too strong for me to take regularly.

Probiotics themselves usually cause gas when you first start taking them--just like fiber can. Give you body three weeks to adjust to that brand to see if some of your gas gets better. Also, if you do have a bad bacteria problem, it can take AGES to get rid of it by doing nothing but taking probiotics.

The thing to ask yourself is: am I any WORSE for taking this probiotic? If no, then continue to take it because it might slowly help you. Even if it never helps your IBS symptoms, it can help keep you from catching bugs (I'm worse about getting stomach "flus" now than I used to be) and definitely helps whenever you need to take antibiotics. Of course, you can always try switching to another probiotic supplement to see if it works any better, but try everything out for three weeks unless it just makes your symptoms unbearable, then ask yourself: am I any worse for taking this? If no probiotic ever helps you, still consider taking one that doesn't harm you as routine gut maintenance (think of it as a multi-vitamin for your intestines).
