Hi everyone.  I was wondering if anyone out there has experienced extreme liver enlargement associated with polycystic kidney disease.  I was diagnosed with PKD about 8 years ago.  I have numerous large cysts in both kidneys as well as small kidney stones.  The strange thing is that my kidneys do not bother me as of yet.  The function is still normal.  It's my liver that is basically completely covered in large cysts and is growing quickly.  Right now my liver is visibly enlarged, so much so that it extends down to my belly button.  I am currently experiencing bouts of liver pain.  I have regular blood tests and CT scans.  My blood pressure is basically uncontrolled, even with three medications.  It can be fairly stable for weeks or months and then spike to stroke levels. My doctor says that the only thing that can be done about the liver enlargement and pain is liver resection.

I have cysts on my liver and my doc says it's somewhat enlarged but my blood work comes back normal. Most of my pain is in the right flank area. My nephrologist told me to get used to it because there was really nothing he could do at this point. Good luck and I hope you can keep your blood pressure in check.

Welcome Texasgrl36

PKD also causes your liver and pancreas to get cysts. I also had breat cysts along with ovarian cysts. My doctor says they all go hand in hand.

Hope this helps you some.
