Regarding Vacation Plans

Little history here.  We were scheduled to go to Florida this month but my husband cancelled it due to my health conditions.  He felt the heat would freak my blood pressure out and dehydrate me and make my kidneys hurt.  Walking in the heat doing activities would tire me out and limit the amount of things I could do.

I love him so much for postponing the trip for my health.  He hasn't seen his mother in 4 yrs and is willing to wait until Thanksgiving to see her when it will me more comfortable for me to go.

So he offered that we can do something else until then.  He brought up camping. (I can go out and buy all new camping equitment)  He offered to rent a really nice RV to go camping in.  We could go to Gatlinburg and stay in a cabine.

So what kind of ideas do everyone else have on where to go?  Or what to do?  I'm itching to take time off work I need a break and don't want to wait until November to do this...

Any Ideas?????

Laurie,
What a thoughtful husband you have. To me, Florida is miserable this time of year so I understand.
Because I always seem to have health issue when we travel, my husband bought a camper this year. At first I wasn't reseptive to the idea, but it has turned out to be loads of fun. We take it to state campgrounds that have area attractions close by that way we can relax and see the sights at our leisure. At first I thought it was going to be a lot of work, but we found ways to get around that. We have met some great people along the way also.We have a 5th wheel that he pulls with a truck. That way we can unhook the camper and have the ability to get out and about. We have already taken 5 little mini vacations this year.
To me this is a miracle. We are going to look at a boat today to add to the fun.

Gatlinburg is a beautiful area, one of my favorites. We haven't camped there yet but have stayed there many times in both cabins and hotels. If you go, take a picnic lunch to the Chimneys. It is just beautiful and very easy to get to. Good luck with your vacation plans.

Hey Laurie,

I don't have any vacation ideas as I haven't had a vacation in, oh, I don't know how many summers due to my health lol, but if you aren't allergic to anything, I see a kinesiologist who is also a nutritionist and she has me drinking a container of coconut water every day.  It is the most natural form of electrolytes that there is; I dilute it with water.  I never got dehyrated following my colectomy even when I was having 20+ bms a day, except when I had c diff but that was something totally different.  You can find it at Wegman's in the Health Food section or at a Health Food store.

Just thought this might help with the dehydration issues.

Take care and good luck with your vacation plans.  We are actually plannings on going to see our daughter in Myrtle Beach after I get my stent out on August 11th.  I' sure it will be extremely HOT but it will be so worth going especially after these past few months and the fact that I get I get to see my little girl yeah .

Hey there! I noticed you live in Nashville...Have you heard of Freed-Hardamin university? I don't think I spelled the last part correctly cause we usually call it Freed...I was gonna go to school there and I have a lot of friends there! Anywho, back to your question...This time of year, myrtle beach would be a horrible idea, so many people, especially crazy young teens. I would give gatlinburg a thumbs up. Maybe could even go to Dollywood for a few hours and see some shows. I went last year and loved it :)! Hope you have a grand time and let us know how vacation went!!!

That sounds great I will have to reseach that so we can go there even if we don't take a vacation there.  Its only a couple hours from us.

Finallyfree:  drinking a container of coconut water every day
I think I will try that. I work in a warehouse that gets really hot average temp is 100 to 110 degrees.

Hummmm nope can't say that I have heard of it.  We have so many colleges around here just like churches. turn

I think we will end up going camping in early October we should be able to get space rental cheaper.  Only difference from doing it in the summer will be my teenage daughter might not have as money teenagers to go swimming with and socialize in the evenings.  Its like all the young people gather together and have their own fires and swimming sessions.  I'm so happy my daughter is a good girl yeah
