pardon me if i am posting in the wrong forum, but i need some help.

my doctors cannot figure out what is wrong with me and have just been prescribing me antibiotics for the last 3 months, assuming i have bladder infection, but the results come back negative and i am left finishing the antibiotic course even without an infecion.  the last dr. i saw said he can no longer help me and thinks it is not an infection.  can someone please help?

these are my symptoms:

- pain in bladder, feels bruised & it hurts off and on throughout the day - most pain is in lower bladder/urethra area.  Pain especially hurts when sitting/driving.
- it hurts even when i am NOT urinating
- feels like i have to pee all the time, even though pee does not always come out
- sometimes i see blood drops in the urine and the urineanalysis showed some red blood cells, but no infection
- levaquin relieves some of the symptoms, but the symptoms return
- sometimes  have discharge
- symptoms started 2 months ago
- but surgery (emergency colectomy due to UC) was done 1.5 years ago.  since then, i don't pee straight - more outward

does this sound like:
- interstitial cystitis
- kidney stone
- some type of infection
- pelvic floor disorder
- RV fistula from remaining 1" rectum?

not sure what to think or where to go??  (uro, gyno, colorectal??).  anyone experience something similar?  thanks!

To Jen_J

Sounds like scarring of your urethra or pelvic floor muscles that control urine stream. I got into a life-threatening mess after "pelvic floor reconstruction." On medical review, docs did wayyyy more procedures than I needed; many without consent. I permanently lost the use of my rectum and colon and for 7 months the use of my small intestine. What had to be done to save me was small bowel adhesion lysis and a permanent ileostomy. AND because docs don't want to fix each others mistakes, I had to see 11 surgeons before I found someone who did what could be done to save me. My issues were all severe scar issues. My bladder has cramping while I pee but so far no pain otherwise; I pray to G-D that no pain starts; am being really careful in that area. I bet your issues are scar related. I have heard that Miklos and Moore are very good; they are urogynecologists. Just go on google and you can find them. Good luck. esoR

I would like to welcome both of you to HW forums. We are not doctors but we will try to support you in any way we can.

Ok here goes. I had this pain way before surgery this last decemeber. Had the same pain over the last two years. Could never put my finger on it. All doctors wanted to do was say it could be a blockage then place a stent in. For a period of months after the stent is removed they would say its do to the stent. Well time goes on and it hurts. In the mornings is the worse pain for me.
Conclusion is. SCARRING - NERVE DAMAGE My nerve pain is hard to explain but it compares if not exvceeds regular pain. Still on the fence on this one. It took MANY doctors to come to this Dx. Long and painful road. The damage could of occured from so many surgeries or just one. When it happens it sucks. I also have to have nerve blocks done to help with some of the sensations of wanting to pee and have bladder cramps.

The doctor who figured it out was my pain doctor. He was kinda in shock. He had only seen one case that was as bad as mine. Its not really common for mine is through out the whole urological system.

I hope some these posts give you hope and you are posting in the right forum. We want to try and cover not only kidneys but anything connenting to them..

Ok I missed going over your symptoms with you.  As I stated about we are here for advice and support.

Passing blood clots - they always thought I had kidney stones but in the end they were a mix of stones and most the time tissue blockages.  My kidneys are falling apart so peices of the insides fall through.  Not a pretty site and comes and goes.  Blood always oin my urine that they will never fix

Feeling like you need to pee without needing too - that my man is bladder spasms.  Finally Free on this forum will agree they SUCK..lol

Pain while driving or sitting - I get that all the time for me its do to nerve damage any motion to the urological area causes the nerves to read pain...

interstitial cystitis - at first they thought I had this.  But my bladder looked just fine.  All symptoms pointed there.

Kidney stones - ahhh they can be tricky they can hide from any tool medical tech has.  That a good one to really look into.  Pain from burrowed stones can hurt for months unless you get them zapped or hooped.

I hope I covered some of what you needed.  Please keep us informed and post often if you like.
