I know this is an odd question but I don't know who else to ask.
Sorry if this is too graphic.

If you have cysts in your ovaries what are the symptoms? I have always had right side pain but  I chalked it up to Crohn's pain. My last period lasted 2 full weeks with some spotting after that. Now when  I bear  while going  to the bathroom I sometimes bleed again. I am very regular so this is so confusing to me. I am on prednisone but have been many times over the past 8 years. Any ideas?

I had many cysts on my ovaries.  Yes there is sharp pain.  You really need to see on GYN.  I had so many cysts that both of them were so damaged they took them when I had my hysterectomy.

I saw the title of your post and had to pop in here. Since you have Crohn's you a more likely to get ovarian cysts then the normal population. I'm sure if you ask this on the CD forum, you will have many women who can relate. I have Uc and get many follicular cysts (many normal women do too) and once in a while I will get a cyst that doesn't go away. I had one that was 6cm (yes it was huge!) and had to have it laproscopically drained. I am in the process of seeing if I have more on my ovaries. The pain is sharp to a dull throb. Sometimes constant and other times erratic. But I definately agree that you should see a GYN.

My 15-year-old has an ovarian cyst and she had extremely sharp pains.  When she was in the hospital because of not being able to urinate (drained 1200 ccs).  They put it on stress in the hospital, but when she went to the urologist afterwards, he said she had a cyst the size of a little bigger than a silver dollar.  They did an ultrasound at my ob/gyn (they wanted to do the probe ultrasound, but we kept them from doing that).  The doctor put her on medicine to help with that.  She said that a majority of her health issues (hemiplegic migraines, seizures, hot flashes, and the list goes on) is from the cyst and hormone levels being off.  Her prolactin was twice what it should have been when they tested it.  I know your hormone levels change constantly, but now we have a few more answers than we did before.

I hope you get some answers soon too.

God bless you.

Elizebeth keep us posted on what you GYN says. Ovarian cysts can be so painful. My daughter is starting to go through this also. It is one of the things I will never miss since I had the hysterectomy 15 yrs ago. I will deal with the hot flashes anyday then have to go through the cysts again.
