My wife was hospitalized last week when she was passing blood and a day or 2 later she ended up in a lot of pain in her kidney. After tests they said that it was not a kidney stone and they had no idea what was the cause.

We are trying now to get into a nephrologist but the waiting list is pretty long.
It is now a week later and the kidney pain still persists.
Our first concern was that this might be the confirmation of lupus which has long been suspected due to joint pain elevated ANA etc.
Our second option is that it is the result of the long term high does of prednisone and other drugs due to her SREAT.
Of course the other option is that it has nothing to do with either of these things.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

i would get the name of the kidney doctor that saw her in the hospital and call for a follow up appt normally they wouldnt leave her high and dry like that they should be able to get her in pretty fast for a follow up.... i would try that first..i have blood in my urine but not that i can see it it shows up on tests..hope you get some answers soon..with lupus nephritis i have never had pain unless it was a urinary tract infection... hope she gets relief soon

Welcome to the forums.  Hopefully we can find some information or personal information for you.

This is my experience with bleeding.

I have blood in my urine everyday.  I also do not just bleed with kidney stones. I can't be clear as a bell and still will bleed.  Mine is due to I have Kidney cysts.  They will break open which in turn causes bleeding.

You are on the right track with going to a Specialist.  It took me two different doctors to get the right Dx.

I will be looking forward to your response.
