Hello all, well I had the stone removed yesterday at the hospital. It got stuck in the opening to the bladder and the ureter and kidney was inflamed so I had to have it broken up and removed. I am having alot of bleeding (ALOT with big clots that I can feel pass) I called the office and they said this is normal, well I am already very anemic. They said if I start feeling faint or like I am loosing to much blood to call. Does anyone know how long this will last. I was sent home with Vicodin, pyridium and ditropan. Not as much discomfort as I expected, just didn't expect all this blood. Glad the stone is gone.

OH wow, I can not believe it was removed JUST yesterday. That is a long long time. I bet that was extremly painful but since i have never had any experience with stones, I do not know what is normal after it has been removed but I know some other members will come along shorlty to give their experices after their removal!

about your anemia, are you on any Iron pills or do you take a multi vitamin with Iron?

Yes it was just removed yesterday, they had to put in a stent because it damaged the ureter, As for the anemia, I do not take any iron or vits due to constipation with my stricture. I did get an iron infusion in Sept that did nothing at all. I just can't beleive the large amounts of blood and clots I am voiding out.

I am glad to hear you had it removed. I hope the clottng stops today. I would say eat spinach but I know that is a no no for your stricture. I hope someone comes along and tells you if this clotting is normal. Take care of yourself and keep up updated.

Kay

Your anemia really concerns me especially with you loosing more and more blood. I would deffinatly say if you feel light headed at all, extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, to deffiantly call your doctors back.

Keep us posted on how you are doing!!!

Thank you all for your concern and replys. The bleeding has subsided, but the stent is very painful. I can feel it pulling and I feel like I have to pee all the time. I have to have it for 2 weeks. Seemed like I had debree in my urine tonight. Don't know if I can tolerate this for 2 weeks.

Kay-
Sorry about the stent. I had the same troubles with the stent and didn't make it past day 5. It was causing too many troubles itself and they removed it. Did they give you anything for bladder spasms? They prescribed something the last time and it did help. Didn't completely stop the discomfort, but was way better than without it. I can't remember the name of it though, sorry.
I am starting to have issues again, for the 4th time since the end of August. am putting of calling the urologist because of the bad reactions I have with the stents. Think they are as bad as the stone.

Not2Spunky,

Glad to hear that the clots have stopped; as for the stent!!!!  They are the PITS!!!!!!!  There really is nothing that makes them comfortable; I currently have to have one in for at least 10 months with it getting changed every 3 months.  I've tried just about eevery spasm med and nothing works.  The longer you are on your feet the worse it is and the more it spasms.  The best thing that has worked for me is to take ditropan 4xs a day and half a vicodin in the morning and the other half at lunch.  I have a very high tolerance for pain so you may want to use the vicodin around the clock.  The only problem with the ditropan is that it is extremely drying so you have to chew gum or suck on hard candy all the time and yes it does cause constipation, even with my colectomy.

I feel for you, but if you can just lay low and do the very minimum, you can get through it.  I wish you the very best!

Judy

Bill, I am sorry you are having problems again. Thats to bad. My stent is comming out tomorrow, I can't wait, it is so uncomfortable and I am still bleeding. I feel as if the stent has moved now and almost ready to come out. Judy I don't how you can stand that for 10 months. I constantly have to pee and its mostly blood. I am sorry you have to go thru that. Afraid to take pain pills as I don't want to get constipated because of my stricture but I will be taking a pill before my appt tomorrow. Wish me luck. KayC

Well my stent is out and is was instant releif and no more bleeding. I only felt a little discomfort and tugging, nothing to drastic. I feel so much better now. I didn't realize it was 12 inches long..

Kay,

I'm sure you're very relieved to have the stent finally removed!  I should have told you it was so long; the first time I had one removed no one told me because they didn't want to scare me, I was like, I was more scared because I saw the x-ray.  Now I'm always in the OR when it's changed.

I hope everything works out well for you and you don't have to go through this ever again!

Judy

Thanks again peeps. Things are still great. I hope I never have to go thru that again but I feel so bad for those of you that do. I was rather shocked at the stent at how long it was. I have a new sympathy for those of you that have stones or stents. And Judy, I am so sorry your going to have to have one for that long (((HUGS))) to you. Talk to you soon, Kay
