My 20 year old daughter picked up her Cozaar prescription and they had switched her to the generic =Losartan Potassium. She said she thinks it makes her feel "weird" and she is concerned. Should I be concerned or is the genric the exact same med? I think in her mind she thinks that cheaper means a lesser quality. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Hey Elizabeth, i have been reading up a little on this and from what I can remember on other posts in the Lupus Forum, there are a few minor changes in the generic from the brand name, the medicine is the same but the inactive ingrediants can different slightly. there are several people that can't take the generic form or can't take the brand name form because they can't tolerate it. I actually have one medicine like that right now. I have to take the brandname because the generic will leave me sitting on the toilet for about 3 hrs after I take it and I take it twice a day, so it wasnt worht it. LOL. I would give it a few days and if she still feels weird, deffiantly call and ask her doctor about it!!!

Thanks Amy,
It still boggles my mind that the pharmacy can switch your meds without your permission. I will call her neph. tomorrow.
