The last few days, I've been having some chest pains. And it seems to get increasingly worst. The last time this happened, I ended up in the ER because it got so bad I was having trouble breathing and I was gasping for air. It always seems to be my left side that bothers me worst. It hurts to take a deep breath and laying down is uncomfortable because it just feels like there's more pressure against my chest when I do. I'm trying my best to stay calm and breathe normally. But the pains are increasing.

But this is just really bad timing, because I'm going back to college. And my first day is on Tuesday, and I can't be feeling like this. After months of doing okay.

I'm hoping it's just a fluke. The last episode of chest pains I had was last July, and I never did find out why. I spent a few days in the hospitals and they never did give me an answer to why it happened because all the tests came back inconclusive.

Wish me luck.

I was diagnosed with Lupus with Antiphospholipid syndrome in Nov 05.
Current list of medications includes:
Cellcept 250mg/4 capsules twice a day, Prilosec 20mg/1 capsule once a day, Plaquenil 200mg/one tablet twice a day, Metoprolol 25mg/half tablet twice a day, Prednisone 7.5mg/one tablet once a day, Coumadin as directed, Tetracycline 250mg/ two capsules twice a day, Midrin as needed for migraines, Magneseium supplement daily
-Avita cream, Clindamycin lotion, triamcinolone ointment daily to control skin rashes.
-Rituxan infusions twice every six months in March and September

Heidi, I agree with Rosie, especially since the pain is so bad. It might be some inflammation, or pluerisy, or it could be your heart. It's better not to take any chances. Let us know what you find out.

Take care

Heidi,

I thought of pleurisy too.  Don't mess around with any kind of chest pain, ever.  This disease puts us at a much higher risk of heart attack, stroke, etc.  Please see someone right away.
