So I know all of you know what I'm talking about when I say I'm whooped!  It's only Monday and after two hours of being awake, I felt like I needed a nap. And it's not just physically being tired, but it's like my brain can't function until I'm rested. How do you all do this??
I feel there's got to be something. In high school I could manage being tired, but now it's not as easy. There needs to be some miracle energy drug!

Hi Daymay, if you find a maricle drug please let us all know. I'm sorry you have to go thru this but I think we all know how you feel. I try to clean or somthing for a hour and I have to at least lay on the couch and watch t.v. Somtimes I nap sometimes I rest. Yes the brain thing is an issue too. It's mind boggleing. (so to speak). I know I get confused when I try to do so much. I wind up going in the bathroom or kitchen trying to remember what the heck I'm doing there.
I guess all I can say is rest when you have too. That is the best thing you can do for yourself.Hopfully the doctor can find somthing to help you feel better soon.

Thanks Carol....yea a miracle drug would be wonderful. I found out why I've been especially tired and achy-- apparently I have bronchitis and a sinus infection.  Who knew! I went to the doctor for a follow up and came out with three new prescriptions.

Hope you all are making it through this cold weather.

I hate infections. They drain everything out of you. I too wish there was a miracle energy supplement or prescription. I sleep 16+ hours a day now, though I am pregnant and that takes a toll plus being on bedrest adds to it. Ironic, I am confined to bed and more fatigued than I was when I was able to be somewhat active. Someone please explain that to me.

All I can say is take care of yourself, make sure you take a vitamin every day (clear it with the dr first), and keep up your fluid levels when ill.

Hi Daymay, I know what kind of fatigue you are talking about. A couple of years ago before I was dx I would have to take a nap after going to the doctor and I would have to limit my errands to one a day. When my rheumy put me on Plaquenil, it helped A LOT! It usually takes a while for it to really kick in and start working, sometimes up to 6 weeks but I noticed an improvement within a couple of weeks.... everyone reacts differently.

There is a med out there that is used for sleep apnea patients called Provigal. I have never taken this med but heard some good things about it. Maybe it's worth mentioning to your doctor.

What meds are you on to treat your lupus? I hope the bronchitis and sinus infection clears up soon. Take good care of yourself.

Hi Stacie,

I've actually not been dx'd...and I suspect I won't be for some time. I've just never had much luck with doctors. I'm pretty familiar with Lupus since both my father and aunt have it, and apparently his mother had it as well. (there HAS to be something with genetics!) It's just frustrating because these symptoms could be several different things, and at 18 I'm sure my diagnosis (whatever it is) will take some time. On that note, I'm probably going to take a nap. My fingers are swollen and all I did was attempt Guitar Hero :p Oh well.

Dana,

I'm sure your doctors will keep a close eye on you with your family history, or he/she should... but doctors can be impossible sometimes!!! Take good care of yourself!

Daymay, I'm sorry you are so exhausted and I'm also sorry that you aren't having much luck with getting a diagnosis. I've really been struggling with exhaustion too lately. It's just crushing at times and it's so frustrating to feel too tired to do even small things.

Hang in there and I hope you get some relief soon.
