Hi,
May I ask, is it possible to rule out lupus with normal CBC and Chemisries?
Thanks. :-)

No. It is not possible to "rule out" lupus with CBC and chemistries. Lupus is diagnosed based on symptoms, and there are some very specific blood test that can complement a compilation of history of symptoms, and exam. Someone will be able to give you a more in depth answer, but in a word the answer is no. Judy

See the links in my signature, specifically 4 of 11 things needed for dx. Unfortunately, bloodwork is not definitive for lupus, it's much more complicated than that. That is why it takes so long for most of us to be diagnosed.

Thanks all.
well, Lupus is a tentative thing. The doc doesn't know it yet. I already have Crhons Disease and am pretty sure that I have always had Lupus since teenagehood. have had many positive ANAs but always low highs(abnormal but not horribly).
Then after going on 6MP I am pretty sure it induced lupus(or the Remicade I was on a few yrs ago but reacted badly to). I always suspected it but all my labs ar PERFECT. Unfortunately they only do the basics for anemia etc. My Sed Rates are always elevated, so I am going to push on this with the stupid GI(who asked me when my next psych visit is!)
I have been haveing horrible fatigue, a rash on my hands and right arm that the sun made worse(gone now.off the drug). Feel dizzy sitting down even. Just tired tired tired. He asked if I am depressed and said I sounded "distraught". I said you try being homebound from being very active all of asudden for weeks and see how you feel. I am not dpressed, I am pissed off!
I guess I may check with a rheumatologist if he is difficult.
Thanks for the help.
Sheesh.

Thanks for the help all.

What do you think of the following tests my GI doc ordered(with some prodding from my mother who came along to keep me from strangling the doctor):

LE Prep

CRP, Sed rate

ANA.    I think he said the ANA "may" be (+) due to my Crohns. Hepful I know. So are these accurate enough?

Thank you :-)
