confused !!!!

Thanks Stacie . . . .

Hmmmmm . . . now I'm confused. I thought we took folic acid (and other supplements) with mtx to help protect our hearts because the mtx uses up the folic acid??? I was actually concerned about the potential l risk to my heart while taking mtx.

I wonder if this study is saying that it protects the heart as compared to other people with RA or as compared to a healthy person???

Thanks for the link . . . its always good to get more info about the drugs we take!

Blessings!

lol Rosie, according to the article methotrexate was developed as a cancer drug and works by altering the body's use of folic acid, which is needed for cell growth. I think the study is saying that it protects the heart as compared to other people with RA.

I plan on taking this to my Rheumy in a couple of weeks and get her opinion on it.
